Hi,

my site is https://www.vitarianstvi.cz and i want to add second sidebar on left side. Theme is “Portal”
Which files is must change? Can anybody help me?

This was a good one.

I downloaded a different Portal theme, from “My Theme Shop”:

The dashboard showed there was an update, so I went ahead and installed it. Imagine my shock when this Portal theme overwrote the one I originally downloaded.

Luckily there was no harm done (beyond me thinking I was crazy for a second). I was just doing some testing on my localhost so it was not a big deal.

I just thought I would alert someone that it happened. I’m not sure what the WordPress theme repository procedures are but you might want to alert them.

I’m going to also attempt to contact My Theme Shop and see if there’s anything to be done from their end.

I want to resize the page (white area) and black footer area directly below it, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do so (even after using firebug)

I want to use the PageBuilder for posting News items. Like a Blog. I see I can use the Text Widget but I want to use the Post/Message generator on the left of my Dashboard.

How do I post News?

and have hacked the CSS to get the header/menu as the client wanted. But they are not altogether happy with how it adjusts to iPad and iPhone.
On the iPad the menu goes on to 2 lines, and is a mess really.
On the iPhone the main body of the page is squashed to the left side – I wonder if this is because the image I am using for the logo is wider than it should be?
Any advice welcome, though I appreciate you won’t want to get into the details of my customisations.

My sidebar is set up in sections. Categories, Specials, Links, Item, Item, etc. I put Page under the Specials but that ends up under another section. How do I get the Specials under the right place?

Looking further I see Menu section and it has my pages under Specials. I tried to bring up the sidebar but can’t figure it out,

This is why when I had 50+ sites I had sidebar.php and hand-coded the sidebar. This is too hard to figure out. I couldn’t find a coder to do it so am stuck with asking questions for each theme.

Edit:
Under Widgets I have Custom Menu: Specials. Now if this is that “section” in my sidebar, how do I put Pages or Posts in there?

Now, under Menus I see Specials. On the left is a list of Pages. Only certain ones are Specials. If I move Pages under Specials, is that the section? Then I see

On the portal theme, I get quotation marks on some pages (“) but I do not know how to get rid of them. I cannot find any reference in the code to where the quotation marks are coming from.

Has anyone else been able to remove them?

Thanks for reply regarding top bar, fixed that. Referring back to the theme called “portal” is it possible to swap the menu and the logo so the menu appears on the right hand side of the page, and the logo appears on the left hand side?

After activiting the Portal theme, I encountered:

I could not login to the WP Dashboard and is not able to advise on my wordpress version.

Portal, great theme, I’d like to change the thin bar at top from blue to a different color. Which line in the style sheet controls that?
