How to put metaslider or another slider into the header of the theme Primer? ?? Is there a CSS code or another possibility?
And how to remove the dimming effect of the header image?

Hi, I have been trying to do the following:
Hi,
as the laws in the European Union regarding data privacy get stricter, I need to remove the Google Fonts external integration:

I have to store the font locally. I am using the child theme Mins. Can I somehow dequeue the script in the child-theme?:
wp_enqueue_script( ‘primer-customizer-fonts’, get_template_directory_uri() . “/assets/js/admin/customizer-fonts{$suffix}.js”, array( ‘jquery’ ), PRIMER_VERSION, true );
Help is appreciated.
Thanks

I am using the Mins child theme (v1.1.4) with the most up-to-date version of Primer (v1.8.9). It’s been working fine for a while now with no issues, but I have noticed there hasn’t been an update for a while. When I search for themes in the Dashboard, Primer no longer shows up. Do I need to be concerned?
I am just getting ready to purchase CSS Hero. But before I do, would like to ask if there is a specific area within the WP forum to post questions for it.
I have searched the forum for “CSS Hero” but not finding a specific part of the forum where members are posting questions about it.

The point of entry appears to be the Primer theme. There does not appear to be an available update at this time. I am reaching out to you the developers to make you aware of this incident to see if you’re able to provide a patch.

I cant get the theme (home page on mobile devises). I cleared cache from phone, and restarted my phone several times but it made no difference. I also deleted cache off the website,
I can only check the first page as the menu was done with image links and when I press the menu tab at the top it doesn’t work, but I do get a flash of the images for a split second. It only appears to be the top images. The site now starts at Home – Stormwriter and the wording and then blank until SITE MAP and then blank until About the author… from then on it works fine.
When I view the mobile view on my wordpress website it works fine,
I the same problem before with the pc view, and that was sorted out by disabling lazy load on Rocket but that is still disabled and I don’t have jetpack.
Any advice please
kind regards
Rob
It has been 17 months+ since the last update for Primer.
WordPress had a major 5.8 update that broke a lot of themes and plugins.
When is Primer going to get an update to be compatible with the current WordPress version?
I am building a site that links to a TNG site. I had everything set up nicely using the Primer theme, with a right hand sidebar and menu at the top (apart from mobile devices when the menu became bars in the top right.)
I was asked to make some changes to the TNG part today and it has completely screwed up the default layout. The sidebar is no longer visible, nor is the menu – it is always the 3 bars now. If I go into the individual page there is no default layout. I can choose a custom one to display how I want and it looks okay in the preview, but then when I look a the site it has gone back to how it was before.
Something somewhere has changed the default layout but I can’t see any way to get at it. Any ideas please?
Thanks

I can’t get the video to play on our site on mobile. Works fine on desktop. I’m able to replicate this by choosing any phone emulation in Google Chrome with the element inspector. The screen size does not affect it when viewing it responsively, just if it thinks it’s displaying on a phone/tablet.
Here’s our site, using the newest versions of WP & Primer:
https://dothecrawl.com/
Can you please fix this or point me in the right direction to resolve it?
Also, is there any way to display the video header on all pages? Ideally, I’d like to just make the “Front Page” settings the same for all pages so that I can also include the widgets that appear there. (I’m willing to do a hard code change myself if you can tell me where that’s at.)
Thanks!
I don’t have large blog posts, sometimes they are just one or two sentences as it is mostly the pictures I am interested in showing. The “read more” link is inserted right after the first sentence. Is there a way to remove this link? I really don’t need a read more option at all.

How can I add the listed fonts?

Hi,
Since updating my site to wordpress 5.7, the website’s dark background is not inheritied in page editor.
I have had this issue earlier with WP 5.5 update and the below workaround(link below) was provided. However, this workaround has stopped working post wp 5.7 update.
Appreciate your support.
Thanks,
Gagan
p.s. I have tried switching off the workaround above and switching back on and that did not work either.
I’ve poured over every line of the style.css and cannot find the place where I can increase the tagline under my blog title in the header image section. While I thought it would be the following code, nothing that I do to change that with font-size: xxpx; makes any difference in the size of the tagline. Thanks in advance for the help!
.site-description {
font-size: 34px;
color: #ffffff; }

There is a large space between the Page Title and the first block of text – see the Home page for example. Is ther a way to control this space?
Many thanks…
We are using Stout, which is based on Primer I believe.
No SSL atm, as the site owner is migrating to a new server after an issue with the current host.
The header video (youtube) used to show just fine, but something change maybe a year ago. Now the video is too massive for the page on a pc even.
I’m not a CSS guy, but if someone could point me to the right area I could probably figure it out. I want to be able to reduce the size (and along the way, maybe turn sound on by default). Also, I noticed after an update, that in Chrome the video does not play by default anymore.
In the Stylesheet, I see this:
video {
display: inline-block; }
but if inside the brackets I add, i.e.:
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
It doesn’t seem to change anything.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am using randomize header image feature to set 4 images that are ranomly chosen for each page of the website. Even though they are lazyloaded, these image are quite big and count towards the LCP google speed metric. I want to preload them.
Since, the image is chosen at random each time server side cache is refreshed, it will not be efficient to preload all 4 images on each page.
Is it possible to add preload attribue to these images tag by modifying some php file?
Hello. I tried researching on my own and searching the forums but didn’t see this addressed. When I try to create a new page in these theme, I am not given an option; all the default or custom layout options are greyed out/unable to be selected. Some pages on my website seem to have the option available while others don’t. Is there a setting or some other user error I have missed somehow? How can I adjust the page layout? Thank you in advance!
I tried to find the instructions on how to setup a child theme for the parent theme-Primer. I cannot find anything and there is nothing I can find at GitHub for this theme either.
First, from what I have experienced with other themes, sometimes the theme Developer requires a unique child theme created by them, to work with their main themes and the setup given by www.ads-software.com Developer pages won’t work.
If the first instance does not apply, then the Child Theme setup from www.ads-software.com applies, but those instructions state we have to know if the parent theme loads its style using the function of “get_template” or “get_stylesheet”, where each function results in a different PHP coding configuration.
This all makes creating a Child theme complicated.
Do you have a pre-made Child theme ZIP I can download for the Primer theme?
or
Do you have instructions you can give a link to on how to setup a child theme specifically for Primer?
Thanks
I like the idea of using the featured image and placing it as the header banner image, which makes every page or blog page using a different header image, but…
There is a problem doing this, that can be easily fixed.
No-one will know the theme uses a featured image for its header background image, so the average user will not see or realize this right off the start, since there is no documentation to state this.
Most featured images are sort-of square and are not at the correct width and height to use as a background image for a full width header of a page or blog page.
This image size issue is what causes the featured image to end up mostly misaligned, per the image content, where most of the image content ends up as cut off or off page (hidden).
In short, this issue makes use of featured images useless for the average WordPress user.
Question
To allow the image content to show correctly as a header background image, what is the best size for a featured image we can use for the theme to properly show it as its header background image?
Thanks.
Suggestion
Please create documentation that states the best image size for Featured images since it will be placed as a background image in the page or blog page header (top area).
