I recently moved my blog across to be hosted by WordPress.com, but in the process, my theme has started coming up with an error and the site won’t show.
Our IT support advised I ask about the following error message:
“PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘CFC’ (T_STRING), expecting ‘)’ in /opt/sites/1071476/wpcom-137938829/wp-content/themes/rubbersoul/inc/rsoul-lite-customizer.php on line 79”
Do you know what might be happening or how I can fix this issue? I need this particular theme installed as it matches a series of blogs I use. And of course now that this theme is activated, I’m unable to activate any other themes that might work.

]]>I recently updated the RubberSoul theme. Unfortunately this caused the menu to become hidden behind the main page of the site and I can no longer access or click on the hidden menu items. Is there anyway to fix this?

On line 61 of header.php, which was moved up from outside its current parent div, clear:both; was removed from the style attribute when the line was moved. This is breaking the layout of our pages such that the content area is shrunk to the width of the menu. The clear:both; needs to be re-added to that div. I’m currently having to add it in the Editor, which of course is overwritten with each theme update.

]]>When I edit posts with RubberSoul as the active theme on my site, the options box for Formats (gallery, video, link, aside, etc.) is not visible. I’ve confirmed it is not in the “Screen Options” box and it is available if I activate a different theme. According to the tags on the download page for RubberSoul it supports page-formats, so why am I not able to edit them when using the theme? Or are the tags wrong?

Apologies in advanced if the terminology is not correct. I’d like to use the black theme for a website. Everything looks good until I look at the page on a phone. The menu bar has now become a box in the top left corner, which is fine, however, the text of the menu items is black on grey and it is near impossible to read. How can I change the menu text colour, hover over colour and visited colour to something a little more contrasting?

Confused about how/where to manage and update widgets.
If I go to the main WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Widgets, I see a “Main Sidebar” with 3 widgets – 2 text widgets and recent entries widget, a “RubberSoul: Below Entries Title” widget area (which has the same widgets as “Main Sidebar” but I don’t think I added these in both places) and RubberSoul: End of Entries” widget area. If I go to the RubberSoul customize menu > Widgets or from the WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Widgets, I only have the Main Sidebar entry, with one text widget.
I have had some success getting my MailChimp signup form and an Amazon widget set up (I added these to the main sidebar widget area I found from the WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets), but I’m having to struggle with getting edits to show. Tried entering a clickable image into the same text widget where my amazon widget is and it just will not display. For a while I was struggling with the Amazon widget showing up twice in the sidebar even though the code was only there once. Also had a helluva time getting a change in the theme color to take on the live blog, though the preview was showing the color I wanted (green).
Am I just missing something?
I would appreciate any feedback, if anyone has any suggestions.

When I first open the page there is often a blank spot that I have to scroll down past to and come back up to see my frontpage. it does not happen with any other themes testes only Rubbersoul.

How can I remove the comments option from the Home Page and posts and also remove the line that says “No Comments” from the article exceprts on the Home Page and from the full articles themselves?

]]>Hello , it really like this theme but I have to temporarily change it because it causes a problem : once manually replaced “the_excerpt” with “the_content” in content.php to see the whole post, it shows no space between paragraphs, and the text is therefore no paragraph making it difficult to read (while keeping them correctly bold, italic and color). The problem occurs only on the homepage , not in single posts.
Here is an example: real post:
“Cui dono lepidum nouum libellum:
arida modo pumice expolitum? Corneli, tibi: namque tu solebas meas esse aliquid putare nugas iam tum, cum ausus es unus Italorum.
omne aeuum tribus explicare cartis doctis, Iuppiter, et laboriosis. quare habe tibi quidquid hoc libelli qualecumque”
and this is the homepage, after I replace “the_excerpt” with “the_content”:

Unfortunately, not being a programmer, I’m not able to modify this function and are now forced to change the theme, unless someone can show me how to do kindly. Thank you very much in any case, I hope in more customizations in the future.

This is an example of the code I’m using for captions on embedded Youtube videos, as suggested by WordPress.

However, unlike captions for images, using this with embedded videos leaves some space between the video and the caption.
Is there a way to prevent this? I could try editing the CSS but I’m not sure which one it is.

]]>I love this theme, and I’m considering using it and upgrading to the Pro version. However I’ve noticed that as the screen gets thinner, it shrinks any images in the sidebar, but doesn’t keep the aspect ratio of the original. So, I have a 250×250 square image in the sidebar, but it turns into a tall thin rectangle on my tablet in portrait mode, and it gets distorted.
