Hi,
I’ve been trying to use this on my self-hosted site since I installed it yesterday—with some success.
Unfortunately it’s not as intuitive to use as the developers think it is. Why is there no manual?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to get what is probably a great product, but there are many things that I can’t find out how to do—or fix—from the very brief wordpress.com guide.
I’m not sure what score to give this yet, until I figure out how to work it. I’ve been trying to figure it out all day. 2 probs so far:
– My portfolio templated pages are displaying a second block of thumbnails under the first lot, and I can’t get rid of it. They’re not related content, but in a div with a class of “project”.
– What size should my square thumbnails be created at? This isn’t obvious. 800×800?
– How do I hide the tags and types text that displays under each thumbnail?
– When I put a Featured Image into a project post does that just create the thumbnail? Or is it also supposed to create the first big image in the post too?
I’ve asked a couple of these questions in the Sketch Theme WordPress forum but haven’t heard back. (I understand that people are busy, and they’re not supposed to be at my beck and call) I see that many of the queries go unanswered.
Anyway, sorry for the grumbling, but I really need a decent manual/guide for self-hosted site use.
Thanks

I love it (I added some CSS-changes) ??
Take a look at my Street Art Blog (made with Sketch):

I have had no problems with SKETCH. Only with my own ability to understand WordPress in general, which can slow me down. The biggest compliment was when my sophisticated daughter thought it was a SquareSpace site ??

Downsides:
– Requires the bloatware “Jetpack plugin” to work
– When creating portfolio items with a features image, the items would display on the portfolio overview page, but when visiting the portfolio item page the image would not be displayed

Although this isn’t the best theme, it’s Amazing still!

I recently updated my portfolio site using the Sketch Theme. The theme’s ultra-clean design is perfect for emphasizing visual content, especially using the portfolio feature and Jetpack galleries. I find the typography to be well chosen, and my site seems to perform well with Sketch. Adding in the Post Type Order plugin helped me to arrange front page portfolio content to my liking.
Great job all around!

I searched a long time to find the right theme for my relaunch. Every other theme had it’s downside – but not sketch. A clean and simple theme for a portfolio. Responsive, pretty and easy to handle and to customize. It has a great one-coloum view and keeps the aspect ratio while resizing. And all this for 0 €/$.
Only one little drawback: For the portfolio feature you have to use projects instead of normal postings (I had to convert all my postings into projects)

I recently used the Sketch theme to rebuild my existing portfolio website. The results are fantastic — a clean, modern look and easy navigation to show off my portfolio projects. I was a complete newbie to WordPress so getting started took some trial and error, but I was able to figure everything out with the theme instructions and some help from the WordPress forum.
Once I learned how to add new projects and pin the projects to my home page, I was able to build the entire site in a few hours.

A very simple, minimalistic theme with clear text and light colours. It’s very nice if you have a lot of picture, so they come out and shine out of the content. Cannot say anything negative about that. I fired up my blog here if you want to have a peek.
Thanks very much for this free WordPress theme!

Sheldon Funk

I was hoping to have found what I needed instead I can not find the part of the portfolio then the beauty and functionality of the theme is gone.
