I use Swell lite since 2016 but only now I realised that I do not really like the following scenario.

If I share a post in other categories, the content is posted in Blog section by default too. I do not find a way to change it, I asked support to my hosting website service.

Can you help please to suggest if it is possible or there is no alternatives?

So I want to add featured images/thumbnails to some of my posts, but I pretty much only want the featured images to show up on the archive pages (since those won’t show images that embedded in the main post) and on certain widgets for recent and related posts.

I believe I already successfully got rid of the featured images showing up on the loop blog page, but what I still want to do and can’t seem to figure out is how to properly remove the huge banner images that the featured images get displayed on the single post pages. I just want those to display normally as they would if there was no featured image associated with the post.

The closest I got was that I seemed to successfully remove the the banner from the single post page, but then the post title was still missing from the actual post. I really don’t know php, but I could see from the code that there were conditions for whether or not there was a nav menu, and I do have one if that helps.

I’m unsure if something needs to be tweaked in the loop post file as well as the single file. I had found an old post (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/changing-place-of-heading-on-individual-post-pages/) which seemed to give the instructions I was looking for, but it didn’t seem to work. However it was from 4 years ago so the theme may have changed in that time so those instructions may need updating?

As you can see the featured image banner looks awful and I just want to remove it and have the title back to where it should be as if there were no featured image.

Thanks in advance if you can offer some guidance. I really do like this theme for the most part, and would love to upgrade to the paid version someday, but it’s just really not financially doable during the pandemic.

I am attempting to get both the original posting date and updated date to show in blog posts.

I did the code editing from the advice I received in this thread this thread but it does not seem to have changed my themes behavior.

Did I do it right, is anyone able to tell? Thanks a lot

Hi there.

I can’t remove the post-date from my posts. I’ve added this to my child theme CSS:

.post-meta .post-date {
display: none;
}

But nothing happens. Even with cacheing disabled, checking in a private window etc.

What do you think I’m doing wrong?

Is there an easy way to make the Swell Light Theme show the ‘posted on’ date rather than when its updated?

I recently had a reader of my site tell me that the comments function was not working properly. The amount of comments listed e.g. (5 Comments on Said Article) were not showing up in the feed.

In the link I have shared, it mentions currently 5 comments exist but it is only showing 1 in the feed.

Is this a Swell Lite issue?

I can’t change the colour of my hyperlinks. Firebug points me quite clearly to style.css line 241

a, a:link, a:visited {
color: #05ad9c;
text-decoration: none;
}

But when I change this in my child theme nothing happens. I’ve checked my child theme is being enqueued correctly (seems to be: Appearance > Editor works fine). I’ve tried !important – still no joy. And I’ve read a lot of forum posts. I’d be very grateful for any help here – this is really making me tear my hair out!

Hello,

I have two questions about displaying dates in posts.

1) Is it possible/how do I display the original publish date and the updated date of a post? (probably a great idea for developers to create if it does not exist already)

2) How do I show either the original publish date OR the updated date? I notice the updated date shows by default. (is there a way to toggle)?

I’m working with this theme but am running into a small issue. I had to manually edit the header in order to use a .svg vector file for the logo since I can’t upload SVGs directly to a wordpress site.
On smaller screens <1024px the font size of the menu bar gets smaller (don’t mind this) but the entire menu bar also jumps down a bit. In the stock theme it’s not that much, it jumps about 10 pixels down, but with my custom header (I only removed the logo code and replaced it with an image tag) it jumps down about 70 pixels, which is a real issue.
Is there any way I can get this jump to not occur or be smaller again? Or is there a way to use an .svg through the main wordpress interface?

I noticed when I upload and image multiple images of different sizes of the same image are created on the server. Are all these images needed/used ? If not, can this action be changed ? If they are needed, are all needed ?

Is it possible to change the headline link to an outside link ? Currently the permalink allows you to only point to pages under the blog site. My site is designed to point users to outside links so if the headline link could be changed to do this that would be great.

I have a problem with icons on my site. I mean all small icons, like social icons and leave-a-comment icon etc. I can not get them visible. If I change my theme to something else, they work ok but not with swell lite, which I would like to use. I have updated to newest version but that didn’t help.

Hello everyone, I was just wondering something that I have been trying to fix for a long time with no success…
I installed Swell Lite, and I have been using it for almost 3 months now. The thing is that I dind’t really like how feature images work with this theme, so I didn’t just resort to use them. Instead, I add an image at the top of each post so that visitors can see the image below the title and then the entry content below the image.
I use categories in my menu to make a section. This is a food blog, so eveytime I post a new recipe, I use categories to catalog these entries, for instance, if I post a recipe of a breakfast, I add it to ‘Breakfasts’ category, and then if you go to the menu, you find ‘Breakfasts’ option, where you can click to find all the recipes in that category.
My problem comes when I click in the option in the menu. It shows all the recipes in the category. Nonetheless, it shows the title, and content but nothing of the image that I add inbetween.
The same thing happens with tags.

There you can see the images in every post (there is just one without an image so far).

I am really enjoying the Swell theme. I am trying to add a tap to call button for mobile devices. I think I have the actual HTML coding pretty well in hand, so I think it will function properly, but I am at a loss as to how to make it appear on the mobile version. Where I would like it to appear is on the same horizontal line as the three vertical bars that denote the mobile menu.

I updated the theme (to 1.3.1), and the main menu has disappeared on the mobile version. No “burger” icon, no full menu… ie, it’s impossible to navigate! The visitors to the site are stuck on the blog posts page.

How can we fix this?

I just noticed recently that my main menu is not appearing when being viewed on a mobile device (or in a browser when the window is shrunken down). I am using a child theme, however I tested with the parent theme as well and it has the same issue. Is there any plugins that have a conflict with this theme that I should be aware of? Or any issue with version 1.2.10 (my current version) of this theme? Thanks in advance for any help.

After the last update of the theme, suddenly the small “burger” icon is appearing above the main menu on full-width site (firefox, chrome, explorer…) when it shouldn’t (see attached screenshot here: https://www.hbodlak.com/work/top.JPG ). How can I remove it?
