Talon is gone in the www.ads-software.com theme directory and it is also disappeared on aThemes official site.

Is this theme closed?

I have taken over maintenance of a web site and am new to WordPress, perhaps I’ve broken something without realizing.
The menu in the header of my home page looks OK, hover the mouse and the links look correct, but clicking on them results in a black page with a white “X” in the top right.
But if I right-click the link and open in a new tab, it takes me to the correct page.
WordPress 5.6 running Talon theme.
Web Site viewed in Firefox and Chrome.
I’ve followed the instructions to update the Talon theme and a number of plugins.
If I start changing theme and deactivating plugins, will I end up losing content that I later will need to recreate? (I didn’t realize that there was, apparently, no backup)

I’m wondering if it would be possible to add/remove some items to make things a little more useable for screen reader users. I’ve made some of these changes on a child theme after having a pro screen reader run through it and deliver me a report, but since some of these changes reside in some Talon specific hooks, they’ll be replaced if the theme is ever updated.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

• The off canvas feature for the mobile page causes two menus to be loaded on the page. I have tried adding aria-hidden=”true” to one, but you cannot hide a focusable element with aria-hidden. Is there any way to keep two menus from loading for screen readers?
• There is tags for footer, and also a div for footer (sidebar-footer) which is marked as role=”complementary”. Since footer in HTML5 already assumes this to be a footer, the role=”complementary” is not necessary and causes a nesting problem. Can this be removed?
• Similarly, all of the widgets are marked as asides. Asides are announced as complementary, so you end up with footer > complementary > complementary, which causes a mess for screen readers. In my child I changed the asides to a regular div, which cleaned up the mess considerably. Can we get the asides converted?
• The skip to content link should appear before any menu items, and should be directly under the opening body tag. Can it be moved there?
• Pages without logo images in the header have the site title marked as H1. This should probably be just styled appropriately rather than using a header, given people with screen readers use headers to navigate.

I’m also having a problem with the navigations not being identified as such in the screen reader, but it has role=”navigation” properly and is in a nav tag, so I’m not sure about that.

I would like to add a full-width header image to my pages, just as the slider on the starting page.
So I tried to set a “featured image”, but it only shows up like a small icon beneath the menu, which inidcates me that the image cannot be displayed.
I also tried to use the page builder to place a header image, but these inly have page width, not screen width.

Is there any other way to do it? Or what am I doing wrong?

Hello,
I would like to use an image in place of the site title, to achieve a more customized look, but I did not find yet a way to do it; my last attempt has been to write nothing in the title and description ad to use the logo to put the image there; of course the logo is too small, and I did not figure out how (or if) I can modify the standard dimensions.
How can I do it?

I’d like to specify that I don’t care to necessarily use the logo, if there is an easier way it is very much welcome!

I see you’ve already answered how to change the background colour of the menu, but when I enter

[off-canvas] {
background-color: white !important;
}

the text colour of the menu items is white as well and therefore invisible. I tried changing it in the colour customizer, but that doesnt seem to work. So my question is, is there a CSS code to change the text colour of the menu items?

I upladed a bit long subtitle in my slider, but I would like to keep its length. But unfortunately on mobile it appears a bit strange (half of the text cannot be seen).

Is there any solution for this problem? I would like to see the full text on my mobile as well.

I saw that you solved some menu coloring issue previously (asked by readwriteandedit) that helped me also, but I still can not change the color of the upper part of my menu (which is now black and I would like to change it into white or transparent): https://forestforlife.hu/

Also: in my slider the Slide subtitle is as long as on mobile it can not be seen the whole text. Can I somehow lengthen the visible part of the slider in the mobile version?

Hey there,

I installed Talon a couple of days ago, however now I am having the problem that my columns in the backend for pages are shifted to the right.

I thought it was because of WPML but when testing it with a different theme the issue resolved itself. So it’s definately something between WPML and Talon that makes this occur.

What happens is that my title is shoved into the date column, my date shoved into the next column, and so on. Might be just a little css issue but I haven’t been able to find a solution yet. Can you help me please?

When the page was loaded, the content was narrow and then stretched.

I can style a lot of items with the customizer, but I’m having trouble with a few of the menu items. For example, I can’t change the background color of the primary menu. From your style sheet, this seems to be .main-navigation ul ul li with background-color: #2E3142. Is this the correct item I should be trying to change? I tried several combinations with .main-navigation and am unable to change the background of this menu.

I’m also unable to change the font color for menu items. I’m assuming menu items and navigation links are the same things, but maybe that’s not the case.

Also, your style sheet indicates that there should be a change in font color for hovering over the navigation links in the menu, but when I hover over the links, there is no change in color.

I’m guessing that these issues might all be related.

I’m still in build mode on the site, but I can change that if you need to see anything there.

Are we able to remove or change the page headings that automatically appear on pages? For example, my home page has a heading that says “Home,” but it’s not text that I added–that’s just the name of the page and it’s showing up as a heading above my text. In your Talon demo, your home page shows a heading of “Who We Are” but “home” shows up on the menu bar. If I change the name of my home page, whatever I call the page shows up as both a heading on the page and in the menu bar.

Also, I have a handful of questions for you that have to do with cosmetics–should I ask them all separately? I love the theme, by the way.
