I recomment the Tiga child theme to create buddypress web sites, it’s completely adapted and very easy to install and use it.

This is a great theme. It’s sleek and simple, easy to use, and has lots of customizable options. I also love that the developer replies to support tickets (I made a few custom changes thanks to existing forum questions/answers).
