Thanks in advance anyone that can help me with this! It’s driving me nuts. I’ve been trying to make the hero image responsive on this site, and while it gets BIGGER, it never gets smaller (it just cuts off the image; see the main domain, linked at “home” from the page linked in the forum description). I’ve tried using a Cover block, but the cover block at full width and height also isn’t responsive (see the block-testing-page linked in the forum description). Moreover, it doesn’t sit with the site-header overlapping it, but instead the block appears underneath the site-header which of course isn’t workable. What I’m looking for is simple, and standard on most pages (including most other ones I’ve built, which is why I’m so lost): a hero image that is responsive, with a navigation bar floating on top of it, and the content below the hero image.

I’m kind of at a loss here. Does anyone have any suggestions???

But when I look at the functions.php file it has only 383 lines of code, and I can’t figure out what is going on here.

I am back with a question on header image for the Velux theme, a follow-up on the following topic I posted last year: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/stretching-the-header-image-in-the-velux-theme/

I need te header image to stretch and show everything in the image. Is that doable with Velux? Showing more of the image was sufficient for the old photo I had, but when switching image to the new one too much of the image is cropped off. How do I make the image stretch and show the image’s content in full? using padding will “squish” the menu and title together, so that is not an option when using Additional CSS for .site-header.

I have the titel of the pages in big letters in the header image, and on the sigle post side it just say Post and not the title. Is it possible to get the post titel insted of the name post?

When I set up this website I used the Header Video option to show a video from youtube. This has worked fine for a number of years but a recent check has shown that the video is now not shown un the header but below it instead.

Any ideas what has happened?

Nothing has been changed design wise, updates to plugins etc have been carried out and all are up to date.

Is there a way, to make the Hero widget appear on other pages than just the front page? It’s a convenient way to display the language switcher. I would really like to display the languages on top of the page.

I like to place a buttom image with a link to our booking site insted of the page title, I have removed the page title with:

.page-title-container .page-header .page-title {
display: none;
}

My site had been running fine with some hero text floating on top of header media linked from YouTube. I tried to change the video URL and subsequently the text feel behind the video. Then for a few days it wouldn’t play any video. Now, I’ve got the first video link playing again. You can see the hero text flash at the beginning, but then get covered up (For clarity in the meantime, I’ve repeated the text under the video).

I tried removing the hero text widget and re-adding it with the idea that laying in the two components in order might help, but it didn’t.

I’d really like the hero text to stay on top of the header media and be able to change out the header media occasionally when we have something new.

My website looks different depending on what computer or mobile devise you are using, and I was hoping to make the website more responsive. Does anyone know how to do that? I am not well versed with wordpress or CSS coding, but was hoping there was a relatively simple way to do this by adding CSS coding or a plugin of some kind. Advice or information on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know how to change the text color for widget buttons and headers? I have a widget on the home page that has white text, and the titles/headers on every page except the home page has white text. The homepage header changed to black, but all the remaining titles on the subsequent pages stayed white. I was hoping to change the text color to black but can’t seem to figure out how! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I tried everything but I can’t change the colour of the hero text in the header. I somehow changed it but i need it in black and now I can’t change it anymore.

I am using the Velux theme customized by a little bit of CSS (though I am no web design expert).

I am missing the icon to drop down the main menu on smaller (mobile) screens. There IS a button there in the upper right part of the screen, but it’s completely transparent and quite small. Furthermore, when the menu does drop down, the buttons to get to sub-menus are almost impossible to see and quite narrow (far right of each main menu item).

I am looking at the site on an iPhone XR.

I appreciate any help!

I am using the Velux theme for my site, https://replacementchildforum.com. If you visit any of the pages with a sidebar, you will see the Recent Posts widget. Currently, that widget is only displaying the entries on the Blog tab. The Category “Letters” is part of the blog and has it’s own menu itrem but the Letters is not being included in the Recent Posts widget.

Currently, I am listing them manually in a Text widget to simulate the recent Posts widget but would like to incorporate the category Letters entry into the recent posts.

Is there some css or another way to include the Letters in the Recent Posts widget automatically?

I have been searching for a simple, but sleek theme and Velux is one I’ve chosen to try and get to my needs. My goal is to be able to show text on the featured image, when I hover over said featured image.

So far I have been able to transition to a lower opacity by using CSS, but I can’t find a way to include text. The text can be centered in the featured image, and if possible I would like the text from the Caption in gallery to be shown.

Any thoughts on how/if this can be done?

on the site site identity section, there are options:

1. site tile
2. tag line
3. logo

it works just fine when i put site tile and tag line, but as soon as i put logo ( even a small size pic logo) the SITE TILE and TAG LINE disappear on the publised page.

is there a way to fix this?

My site header and text go to pot on mobile. I’ve tried everything but I must be doing something wrong. I’ve tried plugins too but I’m sure Velux is supposed to be responsive. Any help welcome.

I’m hoping someone would be able to help.

I’m trying to upload a header logo into the Velux theme, but no matter what I do the image does not retain crispness and also it doesn’t appear in the size I resized it to / want it to appear in. I’m at my wits end and don’t know what to do anymore.

I have a logo that is 55px in height and saving it as a PNG, upon upload the logo gets scaled up and also it is not centered in the header.

If anyone can please help that would be greatly appreciated!

I have two blog categories in my menu and when I go to those pages, the word Category: precedes the name of the page. Is there any way to get rid of the Word category:?

I tried removing it from the Permalink but that did not have any effect on the page title.

I’m trying to use Site Origin to create a hero image. However, when I place it in the hero widget area it just sits like a mobile screen in the middle. If I just use the Site Origin button widget, I can’t get it over to the right of the hero. I have sought support from Site Origin who say that the widget area is limited to 68% ( so I’m not going mad) but is there a way to change it? Why can’t we access the whole of the hero and put content where we like?

The text color stays white in mobile part of app. On desktop the color can be changed. On mobile the text stays white and anything typed in can’t be seen.

I am using the Velux theme. I am not able to edit the hero text on my main page now that it’s published, and I’ve realized it is not displaying properly on mobile or tablet view. I am a relative beginner, but I have tried everything I can think of to make it better, but nothing seems to work. I would really appreciate some guidance. i am new to webdesign, I choosed Velux theme for my website, it was running fine from last 2 years. Yesterday i logged in to do some changes in about us section and after that my website layout is totally changed.

Tried to completely remove and freshly installed but nothing is working out, Not able to get the preview also.

The Advisory Extras page (link above) is a single page with multiple page breaks and anchor links so the visitor jumps to a section of the page from the Advisory Board page, https://replacementchildforum.com/advisory-board.

At the end of each section I have a link back to the Advisory Board page from the section of the Extras page. To prevent people from jumping to different sections of the Extras page, I would like to hide the Page Numbers block that WordPress inserts with each page break.

Can you suggest how best to do this?

I am using a photo on the header which covers the menu bar and the header area. There is a faint white line that separates those two areas and it runs through the photo. Is there a way to remove that line so it looks like a single block?

Hi – for some reason a white line has appeared. I have not done anything to instruct a white line to appear with code.

What is going on? The theme was quite manageable until this very disappointing occurrence.
