The theme documentation says to create a new page from a template, but the docs are out of date with wordpress. How do I do that now?

Hi,
I put the “check to show slider” on ON, with 4 posts.
Each posts have the picture “in front”, with a special and same category.
However, the slider is not visible.
can you help me.
