Must this be done one at a time, or is there a way to add users to a group in bulks?

Hello!
My client gets a wrong message “this username is invalid because it uses illegal characters.”

When I login on the same account I dont get this message. We have tried everything- using different browser etc. What could be wrong?
I would be super apprrciative if you could help me.

Hi, we have a site with many members and have lost the ability to add new users or edit the passwords of any users. This is recent, so may be a bug in the latest update? The site is only accessible to approved users, so very important to be able to add new members. Is there a way you can trouble shoot? I can give support a login.

I fill the fiels in order to add users and nothing happens. I don’t get any error message. Simply, users are not added.

In the network dashboard/Settings, I ticked “Add new users” but it doesn’t help.

Note: I have installed many WP multisites before and I never encountered this problem.
