Wordfence block ip on accessed url

In wordpress, you can block a user if they are visiting a specific url, or with a wildcard url.

I have created a honeypot, where if somebody visits a special page, they are redirected to another page, that are a banned url, in wordfence, and that page are sending them to…. somewhere..

It all seems to be working, they are being sent to hell, but wordfence isn’t banning the ip of the visitor..

Can someone explain why? – it seems in the live log that wordfence isn’t even registering the new page accessed by the visitor..

I’m sure everyone who examines logs sees certain IP addresses attempting to access files which do not exist (404) or PHP files which should not be accessed from the front-end of the site. It is obvious these visitors are not legitimate visitors and are looking for vulnerabilities in the site. I want to be able to _immediately_ ban these IP addresses for a pre-determined period of time.

I would like to find a plugin (or custom script) that would allow

immediately ban IP attempting to access certain files
be able to set the ban time
perhaps have a “whitelist” of files which are okay to access
have a list of “trigger” files which trigger the ban

Any recommendations appreciated.

Is it possible to stop accessing or ban ip for a particular login username ?

example:
A username called “xyz” is not registered but still someone trying to login with the username several times.
So my query is, whether it possible to ban the ip if someone trying to login with that particular username (xyz).

Bypass the block

Hello, first I want to congratulate the team for this awesome plugin.
Second, I wish to suggest a small improvement regarding the unlock by email function/option page because the malicious visits (bots,hackers) bypass the
/?_wfsf=unlockEmail and blocking function becomes useless.
Maybe a captcha or something similar next to the unblock by email field/button will slow down the automated process of bypassing the blocked.
Unfortunately I had to block an entire network (IP range) originating from colocrossing.com service and the live traffic is showing the blocked IP, followed by the same IP but unblocked accessing the /?_wfsf=unlockEmail link/page.
Fortunately for me I use another plugin which allows me to add the malicious visit/IP and redirect them to an external url… that’s the only way I could find to throw some punches back.

PLUGIN NOT WORKING

I have a guy leaving 900+ line comments and added his IP, with * at the end. Did not work. I added his exact IP, but he might have changed it. So, I added a range. It still doesn’t work and he’s leaving these gigantic comments every couple hours or so.

Is there a particular syntax I need to use. Is there a wildcard like % that I’m unaware of? Also, is there a way for me to test the redirect, but then delete the IP I’m using so I can still get to the site?

Suggestion: blacklist IP of users who use banned usernames

Love the feature “block the IP of users who try usernames [____]”.

Can you add settings option to permanently block IP?

It is great they are stopped dead, but with clear hacking attempts (as shown by usernames like admin or your domain name id) I want to ban that user as they are clearly a hacker.

They will keep trying once the time-delay expires, as I found out today. So ban for life option please…

Manually ban ip addresses

Sorry if this is documented somewhere – I cannot find it and I know it should be obvious.

Where is the best place to manually ban an ip (or block) such as:
xx.xxx.xx.xx or more generally, xx.xxx.xx.*

I know I can do this directly in the .htaccess file, but I think it can be done via the plugin.

I have been experiencing brute force attacks on my domain from several IPs beginning with 2, 91, and 92.

1. Should I use a plugin to ban these IPs or can I do so from within my WP Dashboard?

2. If I must use a plugin, which one does WordPress recommend?

3. In the Limit Login Attempts Settings, what would happen if I click on Restore Lockouts?
