I downloaded the extension to change this based on preference (event date or published date) but it has no effect at all.
what is odd, is downgrading the calendar plugin to a version less than 6.0 the events do indeed then show by event date, not by published date. so clearly something had been changed in development and its not my theme doing this. I am using Generatepress and PHP version 7.4
any help is appreciated, curious if anyone else is seeing this behaviour.
just to say on this page ive linked, everything except the post titled “What Most People Think” is an event. you can clearly see they are not listed correctly (some going back to 2015 etc)
]]>I configured The Events Calendar to show events in blog loop. I also installed the helper plugin to sort events in blog loop by ‘published’ field.
Still the event is not shown in blog loop – not in elementor blog element (seen on start page a bit down here: https://hkzr.de/ and also not in the normal wordpress blog page here: https://hkzr.de/aktuelles/
So is there anything I might have missed? Theme is Zakra Theme.
Best regards

I have done this install ?https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/advanced-options-for-adding-events-to-the-main-blog-loop/
then change this in settings?”?[ Sort order in blog loop ] – ?published”?When events are included in the main blog loop they will be sorted by this field.?”
I want to have events in the main blog sorted by “published” order, but doesn’t work, they (events) still included in the main blog by their date, so what I was doing wrong?

You can try temporarily reverting back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if that helps.
RE – I did, but nothing has changed…

Another thing you might want to try is to temporarily deactivate all other plugins to see if there is not a conflict at play.
RE – I did, but nothing has changed…
so may be should I put something <?php() ?> in “functions.php” or “index.php”?
]]>I read your post: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/order-events-in-main-blog-loop-by-post-date-not-working/
And I am having the same sorting problem as dustyhawk described. With the code you refer to I guess it will be fixed in no time.
But I have no idea where and how I should work with te code.
In my child theme with gistfile1.php created with the code in it? Maybe in a different or new folder in the theme folder?
Can you help me out?
Kind regards
]]>Is it possible to the event posted to appear on main blog loop according to the time it was posted and not when it will occur ?

]]>I have turned on the option to “Include events in main blog loop”. I am using theme Twenty Sixteen.
What I am experiencing is the Events show up furthest out first, then my regular blog posts show up below all Events. How to sort correctly? In theory what I post today should show up on top of next weeks event.
