Hi,
I am looking for a wordpress theme to start a book club.
I want to advertize books by categories.
Here is how it would work.
Visitor comes to sight to look for books.
I display different books by categories.
I would need to upload a picture of book, summary, and a buy button linked to Amazon or wherever they are selling the book.
I want to be able to list up to a couple of hundred books down the road.
I would charge the author maybe $20.00 a month using Pay Pal.
Does anyone know a good theme to use for this?
I do not want to pay $200.00 for Woo Commerce Listings which I believe does not exist anymore.

Hello. I was recently deleted from goodreads for not being in favor of white genocide (no, I am not kidding!) and I would like to make a different book club on my wordpress website for those who were in my club! I only have a few days. Any help as to how to do this is a relatively straightforward, but if possible feature rich, way would be much appreciated. I basically just want to be able to have a chat about books with our group, for members only if possible so that they can feel more comfortable. Is there anything like this out there that would work, a plugin or some instructions somewhere? Thanks very much!
Oh and the site is odinist.org although there is not much that one can see that would help.

I’m very new to this so apologies if these are basic questions. I’d like to set up a site to host an online book club. I’m looking for a closed site that requires a password and enables comments. Other than that, I only need something simple; an image on the homepage with a link to the current comments, and a sidebar with links to members and previous books/discussions. Any suggestions? Thx.

I want to make a website for a small local book club. The requirements are modest …

A member makes a post to introduce the next book, and announce the next meeting (weekly).
Other members discuss the book, before and after the meeting.
Meetings and books are distinct. At each meeting they might discuss more than one book, or they might talk about something else that is not a book.
They want to list previous books (with intuitive link to the discussion) alphabetically and by date.
They want to list previous meetings by location and date.
The site home page should always feature the current book and the next meeting.
The book club members are mostly WWW novices.

I think WordPress would be a good solution.

Does anyone know of an existing theme or template designed or adapted for a book club?

Does anyone know of a good open source alternative to WordPress for this project?

Book club page specific forum plug-in?

I run a successful blog on cancer (www.beingcancer.net) whose main feature is a list of 1300 personal cancer blogs with specific pages for each type of cancer. We also have a cancer movie and book reviews page. Last year we featured a monthly Cancer Book Club in the main body of the blog, well-read but with few comments.
In order to encourage more participation in the book club, I have thought about adding a “forum” or discussion-type plug-in. But I would want to forum to appear only on the specified “Book Club” page. What plug-in might work best for this application? Thanks and Happy New Year. Dennis
