Getting error message. Tried to fix but can’t login becasue of the error message.

Post 6.7 upgrade website works yet can’t log in

Hi WP Community, firstly I wish I had thought to come here sooner.

Background

Last Wednesday morning (Sydney Australia time) I upgraded my website to the new 6.7
This worked yet afterwards, Wordfence said there was a lot of old files (form the previous version of WordPress) that hadn’t been deleted
I was rushing, so “Delete All” without thinking
Website stopped working!
My business is 12 years old & I’m reasonably techie yet not a web developer or coder.
When we first started, like all startups, I went with a cheap host (i.e. Crazy Domains). Sadly I haven’t moved…yet that is another matter. I contacted Crazy Domains Technical Support numerous times. Their Level 1 support tried to fix. Then escalated to Level 2 who “did more stuff“…
I suspect Crazy Domains renamed folders/files as _1 _old (for some current content) & then tried to restore a previous backed-up version yet didnt include all files/folders
Crazy Domains were partly successful as they at least got the website to work externally (so people can find our https://abilitygroup.com.au/ website & view content)

Remaining Issue

I can’t log into WordPress via cPanel login link

Not Found

The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I also can’t log in using my previous login url https://abilitygroup.com.au/wp-admin/ (which at least displays the log in screen yet wouldn’t accept my my user name & password. I tried resetting password multiple times yet this link still did not work…

What I’ve done…

Wasted hours reading blogs, forums, etc that don’t mean much to me…
I tried to replace contents of wp-admin folder (renamed the then existing folder as _old) & then upload backed up version of this folder. This didn’t fix the issue
I deleted Wordfence (via cP File Manager) – as during my many hours of reading I saw there was an issue with Wordfence & multiple hosted websites (Crazy domains provides me with a master domain & then other websites I have I believe are sub-domains with their content stored within the public_html folder). This didn’t fix the issue
Using cPanel Installatron Backups, I restored the the daily backup (from the day before the upgrade) to the same location. This didn’t fix the issue

Comments

I assume the WordPress plumbing (so to speak) isn’t working
I have TFA activated so unsure if this is an additional problem
To fix log in issue, I’m hoping I can either; 1) somehow re-install WordPress (without making things worse or destroying the 7 other separate sub-domain websites) or 2) there are additional files that I need to upload/replace (from a backup) to fix the core WordPress files

Any help would be so very greatly appreciated

Cannot login as Admin

I enabled Wordfence for our website’s security since it has been hacked twice. When enabled, I configured settings and now the day after, I cannot log in as admin. I ask my colleague to disable the wordfence and I got in but when we try to enable it back, it keeps loading. What could be the cause of this? I already checked the blocked IPs, my IP wasn’t there even the user blocklist. So the best solution was to disable wordfence temporarily. Please help.

FYI: The website has 3 security plugins, WPSecurity, ALLinOne Security and Wordfence

Can’t log in to my website

I have access to my wp-admin but when I enter my email address and my password, nothing happens.
I tried to use the “forgot my password” feature. But when I click on the link I received, it says it isn’t valid and tells me to enter my email address again to ask for a new link.

I contacted my provider OVH and they said it was an issue on WordPress directly. How can I fix it?

Hi, I am not the developer of my website but owner and updated some plug ins on my site and after a blank page appeared with the notice in the top left corner: function file is missing! I can’t seem to log into my account either as the same notice page comes up. I think I might be logged out for security or updated plug ins that weren’t needed. I don’t know but don’t no how to erase what I did because I can’t log in. Any advice much appreciated! X

Changed http to https and can’t access my admin panel

Hi, I made a stupid mistake following site health advise to change to https and now i can’t access my website or see it. I only built this website on www.ads-software.com without proper hosting as my client already has a domain purchased elsewhere. I haven’t connected the site to the domain just yet as I was still working on final pieces.

Now I am unable to use my admin page and for some reason I also can’t log in using FileZilla or any other FTP server and I’m devastated.

Can someone please help me to understand how am I able to reverse that change?

Unable to log in for days

Please help if you’re able, I’ve been busting my head for days trying to fix this and my host is really slow with replies.

The website is deleted

When I install wordpress through softaculous i can log in with the registered account that is made during installation. I can do this with the username/pass or by pressing the login icon in softacolous that redirects you to WP. At this point I have a fresh new Wp that is blanco with no site built on the domain alemtotaalbouw.nl

2. After installing elementor and envato i cannot login anymore. the username/pass doesnt get recognized anymore and when i try to login through the softaculous button I get the message “This page could not be found!”

At point 1. the site loads a Hello world when visiting.

At point 2. the site loads the website with elementor plug ins and envato template ( I had built this thise once before on a different host).

The site loading in the way I had built it once before is good, but I can’t access it anymore because the softacolous Wp button redirects me to “page could not be found”. And entering with my username/pass doesnt work. Acc recovery through “forgot password” doesnt work either.

If I want to access my domain through WP, I have to delete WP and install it again. This makes me able to enter the webiste but when I add essential plugins like Elementor the old website loads, i get kicked and cant login anymore.

So now I am stuck in a loop, I can’t built the site from scratch because everytime i install this plugin my site reloads in built form but I can’t access.

Can anyone help me get acces to WP again?

Kicked out of Session/ access restricted

I’m a bit spooked right now. I was logged into my dashboard, and suddenly the access restriction login page from Ninja Firewall popped up, and I couldn’t get back in.
This page should only pop up in case of an attack and not kick me out of a session. Also, I’m not able to log in again despite entering the correct credentials.
I can’t access the website anymore.

I tried another browser, but it didn’t help. Also, there is no error message, the “Access restricted page” simply reloads.

What course of action do you suggest?

edit: After a few minutes, my regular WordPress login was accessible again, and I could log in. Do you have any explanation for this strange behavior?
