Category Bug | products redirecting to uncategorized when category is edited

I am running Divi theme.

Anytime I edit a category that has products in it, the product links immediately get redirected to uncategorized. For example, url.com/shop/category/product becomes url.com/shop/uncategorized/product. The page is then not found.

I have checked my permalink structure and that is not the issue. If I delete the category and readd the products it works but when I go into to add an image to the category or edit the SEO the category immediately becomes corrupted and the links start redirecting to uncategorized.

This is happening on my staging site so I am unable to share the URL.

This is absolutely driving me crazy.

Broken category links

For some reason, the category links on the plugin dropdown are not linking to the category section I’ve set up through the Cooked plugin, despite pointing it in the permalink under Settings. It’d be nice to have this resolved as our company website needs to be launched soon and this page is hindering our progress.

I’ve scoured this forum for an answer and came up empty with unanswered threads or resolved threads with no answer.

cannot exclude category (causes blog feed issues)

Greetings

To exclude category “videos” I add a simple string of code, found in the wordpress codex, just before the loop. It works fine, no “video” posts show up in the blog feed, but if I advance from the home page to page 2 or 3 or 4 ect… of the blog feed I get the same posts (my latest posts).

I have removed the code I inserted into the template and this is definitely the issue. Does anyone know why this may be happening and a workaround so that I can exclude a category successfully?

Categories no longer showing – how to restore?

Woke up this morning to find all category tags disassociated from my Blog posts. They are showing in the dashboard summary category count (‘9 categories’) but clicking into the category section shows no categories and when I add a new category it shows briefly but does not save (although the Category count increases so it’s going somewhere).

If I try and add a category that I previously had, it tells me I can’t as this category already exists. The categories are obviously in there but are NOT showing or associating with current posts.

I have updated to 3.0.5 but this has not helped in any way.

Any ideas or tips? I had a play around with phpMyAdmin but I really am not sure what I’m doing in there.

Looping a category back to the home page

HI,
I’ve asked this question in a lot of different places and have yet to get an answer.
I put the plugin for Slidedeck in a post to get it to show up on the front page. However when I go to the Home category it brings up the words “Archive for the ‘Home’ Category”.
I’ve been reading about “looping”. Do I need to loop the category “home” to that first post so it always goes back to the front page?
If so..how in the world do I do that? Very new to coding?

Category changes not "sticking"

I have imported posts and pages an categories from one blog to a new installation of wordpress. However, the categories for each post didn’t come through AND I can’t change the categories of the imported posts from “Uncategorized”. I’ve tried on several posts and the change just doesn’t “stick.” I’ve tried using the “quick edit” option for the post AND the regular “edit” option.

The posts remain as “Uncategorized” — anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

Category view is out of alignment

Hi everyone,

Just noticed this on my site today. All seems well on it until I click on an ‘Category’ on the side bar and my whole side bar gets pushed down to the bottom of the page.

Also, this only occurs with some categories – not all.

I recently changed my opt in form, so thought it may be that, but when I switched back to the old one, I still get the same result.
