Category pages not loading posts

This problem has recently developed which is that posts within a category do not load on the archive category pages. For example, there is a category widget on the single post pages. When you click any of the category links, the page loads displaying the category name, but none of the posts within that category load, the page is blank. If you refresh the page is loads slightly differently without the page (category) title.

I’ve noticed that “/category/” is not in the URL.

I’ve recently updated WP and the theme. I’ve resaved permalinks, I’ve deactivated all plugins, to no avail. There is no cache plugin being used.

I’ve used the Health Check plugin, and reverting to a WordPress theme and with all plugins disabled, then when you click on any category link it takes you to the home page, and “/category/” appears in the URL. So different but still a problem with the Category links.

I had the same problem with the Post Author link on every post, so I’ve now disabled that.

Enabling SCRIPT_DEBUG didn’t solve the problem.

Chrome reports these faults:

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The theme is Elision by Quode, but they won’t give me support unless I pay. I’m happy to pay, if I know for sure that the problem is caused by the theme.

Display only product in category to reduce clicks

The SHOP page shows all the product categories. We also sell a Gift Certificate, which is setup as a product in the category called ‘Gift Certificate’. If you click the category image on the SHOP page for ‘Gift Certificate’ you get the category page. Since there is only one product (Gift Certificate), is it possible to link directly to this product from the SHOP page, and bypass the category page? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Ben,

I’m wondering if you know how I can go about adding category links to my widgets in both sidebars (above the post title), the way the category links appear in red in the main blog loop? I did that by inserting a php snippet in the backend, but I can’t seem to find the equivalent place to add that php for the sidebars.

Need links for categories + category images align too much left

Hello! On www.mobilmeckaren.se on the right side in the sidebar I have images with cellphone-makers brandnames, apple, samsung etcetra. I want each of these images to be linked to product categories. In the “reparationer” https://mobilmeckaren.se/reparationer/ the categories are apple, samsung and so on..
So I want url to these, linked on the images of the sidebar.

And also.. it appears my https://mobilmeckaren.se/reparationer/ page has the category images aligning to much to the left again (on mobile units only). I fixed this with your help I think but now its back again. Thanks.

Category Link just added in with the posts

When using the option to show categories it always adds the URL link, can it be configured to show ONLY the category name without linking it?

I know this has been answered before – however I’m not comfortable adjust code in the plugin. Is there not another resolve for this? Like a shortcode exclusion or something???

Category Links do not work!

Please can someone help me?
I have been going over and over and cannot find a solution.
I have made 3 categories.
I have 3 posts.
One post is linked to 1 category(Create Make Do) and the other 2 posts are linked to another category (Monthly Mandala)
Now my categories are in the navigation bar but if you click on them you just get Error 404 page not found.
This is driving me crazy, I have looked at permalinks, I’ve tried changing my theme, I have deleted the categories and the menu and then added the categories again.
Is there a simple way that I am missing something?
Please help in easy to understand terms as I am new to this and do not understand lots of technical jargon!
Many thanks in advance and will be very grateful for for any sensible help, please?!

I’ve tried suggestions from several online help sites to hide category and tag links on all posts and pages, but nothing has worked.

I’m assuming that something custom must be needed and I’m hoping you can provide the appropriate css code to use.

Posts not showing categories

I’ve noticed on the post I’ve put up that it doesn’t list any category links at the bottom of the page. It shows the tag links on the right side, but there’s just an icon of a folder to the left where it should be listing the category links. I only have one category that this post belongs to (Espanol con Merit), but even in previewing a few drafts of posts with other categories, it always seems to be blank. How can this error be fixed? Thank you in advance for any help!

WP 5.9.2
Theme: twentyseventeen
Link Library Plugin: 5.9.15.1
I’m adding more links to see how this plugin behaves.

When I click on any category, I’m taken PAST the categories links not to the category.
I would expect the link to take me to the Category name with the links below i.
I don’t see any option that might change this.
