Slider slow load after upgrading

My sliders are taking longer to load/display after upgrading to WP 4.0 (from 3.9) and Customizr .23 (from .19). This isn’t related to the number of slider images because the slowest of all is a single image slider – see here.

I’m seeing a rotating wheel while the slider loads which I’ve never seen before (maybe it was always there but my sliders loaded so quickly that I didn’t see it).

Also, while the image loads, the overlay containing the spinning wheel sits on top of the slider so that drop-down menus disappear behind it.

Anyone else seen this?

Thank you @nikeo for this update. I forgot to refresh all my cached pages after the update and the result was that my site looked like a car crash until I went back in and re-cached. Just saying in case any other newbie gets scared witless by it.

Looking forward to .18 which looks poised to descend – with some meaty enhancements. I will remember to re-cache next time.

Hover-pause is great but my player is broken!

Jeff, thank you for the new hover-pause function which is a great asset.

But the new update seems to have broken my old widget player controls: my PREVIOUS and NEXT buttons still work but my essential STOP button now does nothing — as you are welcome to test here.

Is my only option to reinstall the previous version? Since I have the player controls, I don’t need the new pause function – but I do need to give visitors the option to stop the sidebar jiggling up and down when they scroll further down the page.

Is there some magic to getting a Customizr static home page recognised by search engine spiders?

WordPress SEO thinks it has no content and gives me a disapproving stare when I try to convince it that the page does contain key/focus words and that my meta description is honest.

Menu "original" overrides new URL

I moved a page from one sub-menu to another and now, although it is functional, it displays the original URL (which, AFAICT, doesn’t exist any more). How can I fix the URL?

The page is called “Distance therapy” and it is correctly positioned in Appearance>Menus as a sub-sub item, i.e.:

Healing
>Reiki
>>Distance Therapy

The menu renders correctly in the browser but this page loads as https://www.beautyandsoul.net/buy/distance-therapy/ — which is where it began its life before I moved it.

It seems to be picking this URL up from the “Original” field in Appearance>Menus (which may or may not be useful provenance to know under some circumstances). But I would rather kill it if it means the repositioned page will display the correct URL. Problem is there isn’t any editable text in the “Original” field — and when I try to edit the Permalink on the page itself, only the last part of the URL is editable.

How should I do it? TIA.

Front-end Editor plugin

I wanted to give the site owner the ability to do some basic editing at the front end and the Front-end Editor plugin, based on the amazing HTML5 WYSIWYG editor, Aloha Editor, looked to be just perfect.

But it malfunctions badly on my localhost dev site (no editing functionality, breaks the slider engine, etc).

Has anyone managed to get this plugin to work with Customizr?

Put page in multiple menus?

Client is asking me to put one of the pages (a price list) in multiple main menu dropdowns. In case I can’t talk her out of this, can it be done? Maybe something that looks like a page in the menu but is merely a link to the original prices page? TIA.

Short posts = no comment?

When posts are very short – like several here – the post index page doesn’t include a link to the post page so there is no obvious way for people to leave a comment. If they click on the blog link in the sidebar, they will find the right page to post a comment – but presumably those sidebar links will scroll out of sight over time.

Am I missing something? TIA.

Shiny buttons
