Likely explanation for problems, version discrepancy

In reviewing a friend’s slow site, I was taken aback to discover Clear Line is still installed, even though the current version of WordPress (3.9.1) exists.

(I used this theme myself back in 2010 and part of 2011, but, when there were no forthcoming updates and I did a bit of digging around to try and figure out what was going on, I switched away.)

In looking at a few of the questions posted here in the forums, I thought it might be helpful to share what I discovered.

This theme has not been updated since 2011 because the theme reviewer rightfully withheld approval of the last potential update and included a list of required and recommended changes to the theme’s code. See the Trac ticket: https://themes.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/5904

If you review the list of changes needed before approval could be given, you’ll see how some potential issues could arise using even prior version of the theme. In addition, there was one security concern noted.

It’s pretty clear the theme has been abandoned.

At least one question was posted here regarding the discrepancy between the currently available download (1.0.9) and the changelog inclusion of 1.1.0.

The reason for the discrepancy is that 1.1.0 is the development version that was never approved by the theme review team here at the repository.

Displaying full content first post and excerprts of rest

I would like to display the entirety of the top post on my home page, but excerpts of the rest of the posts on the home page. How do I do this? I have tried different coding changes but can’t get it to work. I am using the clearlines theme.

I have one horizontal nav bar but for some reason it is repeated below in a link format.
I am complete novice with wordpress and have no idea when it come to code…I am hoping there is an easy fix.

Installed Clear Line but view is distorted

I just installed Clear Line, but cannot get the correct “view” of the theme. Everything is over to the left of the screen and not at all as shown in preview. Almost like the code is messed up. My blog is just about to go live, so I have no posts yet. So, giving the web address won’t help since there is nothing to see yet. Any thoughts with this limited information? Sorry, my tech skills are limited.

[Theme: Clear Line] Put ad above header image?

I’ve been trying to place a Google Adsense banner above my header image, but nothing I try is working quite right.

Where should the Adsense code be placed within the header.php file so that the header doesn’t become misaligned (as has been happening)?

Any advice/thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!

[Plugin: Black Studio Touch Dropdown Menu] Not working on Samsung Galaxy S2 (latest android)

Hi, love the idea of plugin, and very much necessary for the website I have built.

I am using the “clear line theme”, and the dropdown menu plugin widget.

When trying on mobile (galaxy S2) it seems to work sometimes, a menu will drop down on first touch, a lot of times, but then on some menus not at all, and on most it will default back to fist touch. I can’t try on other mobiles as I don’t have access to any (if you do would be great to know if it works on iphone and other).

Any idea how I can get it working (bearing in mind I have extremely limited knowledge of changing CSS).

I cannot link to the website I have functioning as it is being built with a coming soon page in foreground, but I have installed all the same plugins on this test site running “clear line” so should be the same: www.tyrhone.com (just checked and it doesnt seem as severe with fewer menus, the actual site I am building has a lot of drop downs and it is more obvious).

Thanks for putting this out there though, I hope you continue to work on it.

Clear Line Theme header top padding broken

A client pointed this out to me: when she tries to set top padding for her site title (.header h1, described as “Header Title Top Padding” on the header tab of Clear Line Options), nothing happens. I looked it up, and that’s because the line to call this number is missing from the inline.css.php file. I’m trying to track down the initial function so I can get its name and fix this, but the theme needs to be updated.

[Theme: Clear Line] images above post titles on index page

I can’t figure out how to make the images above the post titles on the index page fit into the space. I created posts with thumbnail images and checked the “featured image” box for each one. But when I view the index page, they do not appear wide enough. You can see the problem here: school-bites.com

I am guessing that I need to go to Clear Line Theme Options, but I’ve searched all over and can’t find anything that pertains to this.

Any help would be appreciated!!
