How to reopen comments on post? Comments currently closed

I noticed that where it was previously possible to comment on all of our blog posts, it is now not possible on most of them. I figured out that under Settings > Discussion we had “Automatically close comments on posts older than xx days” was ticked. So I’ve unticked that, but it hasn’t brought the comments back on the older posts.

I’ve also checked the individual posts and comments are ticked to be enabled on them, so I’m not sure how to bring the comments back on those posts? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello! I would like to use the click to load comments option. It works on posts with open comments. It does not work for posts with closed comments (I have comments set to close after 30 days). Can this plugin be used with closed comments? Thanks for any advice you can provide!

Closed comments and Pingbacks Bug

Forgive me if I sound frazzled, but I am really frustrated at the moment because for the past three days I have been trying to fix this issue without any luck. I have read and re-read articles and posts and suggestions on bugs with closed comments and pingbacks in WordPress. This is not my first rodeo with WordPress so I understand how the comments and pingbacks work and I have checked and unchecked EVERYTHING that has to do with comments and pingbacks (in every part of wordpress from the individual post itself to the settings) and they are still NOT working. Let me explain:

(1) When I create a post, there is NO comment section. I have everything checked and it still does not show up. The only way to make a comment area appear is through QUICK EDIT > uncheck > update then go back and check the boxes again and > update.

(2) Pingbacks are NOT working whatsoever. I have done several pingbacks to my other articles and connected friend’s blogs and they still don’t show up.

Any assistance would be appreciated PLEASE!

The post says comments are closed. I’ve tried changing settings in discussion setting as per instructions to no avail.

inline comments and closed comments

It appears that Inline Comments does not read the Settings > Discussion: “Automatically close comments on articles older than…” setting for posts with closed comments. What I’ve found is that it looks like one can still post an inline comment (i.e., there’s a bubble next to each para), but the comment window does not appear.

Is it possible to remove the bubbles entirely (so as to avoid confusion) on posts for which comments are no longer allowed?

black directional boxes appearing on wrong pages

I have little black boxes with arrows in them which appear properly on the post pages. Here is an example of a page where the black directional boxes work perfectly.

But, I also these same black boxes which appear on pages where they are not wanted or needed, and they do not work — they do not go anywhere. Here is an example of such a page:

I have noticed that the URL looks different as well — instead of naming the picture, you get:

?attachment_id=93

And at the bottom of every one of these pages with the incorrect directional boxes, it says, “comments are closed.”

I have been able to get rid of some of these, one at a time, by deleting the image and re-entering it. But, is there a faster way? I have over a hundred images in the website.

Don’t know version. New so probably the latest.

Suddenly for no reason no one can reply to my latest post. I’ve checked old forums and I have the correct boxes checked. Anyway, why should it suddenly do it.

Have no idea what to do. Options shown in old forums on this from two years ago do not help and comments are closed on those, too.

HELP please. We are just getting this blog up and running and getting subscribers and cannot afford to have our posts suddenly marked ‘comments closed’.

jpcarousel_auto_close_comments warning and closed comments

I’m running the last versions of WP and Jetpack. My comments are closed for all articles, but the WordPress option is set to allow them. I don’t know why the comment form is disabled.

I’m receiving a lot of warnings like the next one. I’m thinking my situation is related to jetpack plugin. Jetpack Comments module is not activated.

Display comments after closing comments

My comments close automatically after 30 days.

The existing posts after the comments are closed on an entry do not show and all I get is the “Comments are disabled for this post” message. I know that they are still there and it’s my theme that is preventing them from showing up (as I switched back to TwentyTen to make sure and they do show up). I just don’t know what line of code I will need to add and which file I should put it in.

Any help would be appreciated!
