I have reluctant responsibility for a site set up by a friend, recently deceased. It is still running WordPress 3.6 with BuddyPress version 1.9.2. I am not a WordPress expert and have yet to brave a potentially tricky upgrade, so the site has been bumbling along using the antiquated version. Until now.
The comment button on the main blog page has suddenly and unaccountably disappeared, and restoring files (not the database) from a backup makes no difference. Comments for the page are activated. The only recent change to the configuration was to upgrade a user to editor status, but this was a couple of days before this malfunction. Comments can be added from the edit page but users and editors alike cannot add them from the blog page.
I would welcome any suggestions on how this might be remedied.

I’m using Origin since 8 months now. The send comment button is missing after the latest wp update.

I changed my Theme yesterday to a new, crisp one.
But now I’ve got feedback of an user, that the comment button is gone and I don’t know how to bring it back.
I’m using the Theme Oxygen and the url of the blog is www.pixelbros.de .

Comment button stops working after refresh

I am using WordPress 4.1.1 and just updated to the most recent version of Buddypress, although this problem existed on the version I was using before as well (2.2.1). I am using a custom theme, so it’s possible that is the problem, but I just want to make sure.

The problem that I am having is that when I go to a user’s activity stream and create a new post, and then click on the comment button, a text area appears. But as soon as I refresh the site, the textarea will not reappear–the comment button changes to its hover color (and does not change back) but nothing else changes when clicked. So basically, the only time a user can comment is when the post has been just created and possibly just on his or her own post, it seems. I have been doing some customization in bp-custom, but none of it has related to comments in any way. Do you have any suggestion for where to look for the problem? Honestly, I’d rather the comment textarea just show all the time than have a completely useless comment button.

Otherwise, I’m looking for some insight into what the problem may be or at the very least how the comment button functions. Thanks!

I need a dummy explanation of how to move the comment button to the bottom of the post or add it to the the bottom of the post as well as the top.

IF either is not possible, then make the button bigger or different color. It is getting lost in the post.

Please remember I need a dumb down version.

How can I add a “Reply” or “Comments” button under a post? They used to appear automatically but they no longer do. They do appear in the mobile version on my smartphone but that’s it. There is a reply “field” but not a button on the individual post pages but not on my blog page: https://workingparenting.com/blog/
