So, we’re a writing blog and really want to support interactivity between our writers and our audience. I have been having an issue with site visitors being required to login to a WordPress or Gravatar account to leave a comment.
Here’s what I’ve done to counteract this issue so far: have gone into Discussion settings and unticked ‘Users must be registered and logged in to comment’, have disabled the ‘Comment author must fill out name and email’ (anonymous comments are working, but we do want people to comment with their name if they wish), and have disabled the ‘let visitors use a Facebook or WP account to comment’ in the hopes that this will resolve the login issue. However, it appears that WP is mistaking our subscribers as having their own WP account, when they have only provided an email with which to receive post updates etc. I.e: they don’t actually have a password or official account. I’ve checked with subscribers who have had this issue – they have never had or created a WP/Gravatar account, they’ve only subscribed to our site using their email address.
Temporarily, I have noted in a paragraph block above our comments section on posts that they either need to use a different email to the one they signed up to our site with, OR they need to leave an anonymous comment (and potentially sign off their name manually if they wish for their name to appear). This isn’t ideal, but it’s a fix whilst I’m seeking clarification.
Is there anything I might have missed, or that I should try? Is anyone else having the same issue?
Thanks a bunch!
]]>There was no other plugin update. Currently, I am using the latest version of the plugin (had to deactivate it to prevent the loss of comments at the moment). My cache (with WP Rocket) was cleared but didn’t solve the issue.
Also, the option to “automatically close comments after a certain number of days” has never been enabled on the discussion settings page.
How else can I trouble shoot this?
]]>I use BuddyPress. I want to enable commenting only for certain ranks achieved after earning a certain number of points.
I could set up the points structure and can set up the ranks also, but how to limit commenting on BuddyPress based on ranks.
Thank you
]]>I am needing help with my commenting. My commenting was previously working fine, but now it won’t let me know when someone comments for me to approve it. I didn’t notice that he had stopped working until after I changed the settings to where I have to approve all comments so I’m not sure if that could have messed something up.
I didn’t put a specific page because it’s all posts.
Can you help me with this?
]]>the styling of discussion posts when the discussion is closed is broken. When the discussion is open all looks fine.
]]>When I install the plugin nothing will appear at my posts, and yes I have activated commenting on the posts. I use Disqus on several other pages but it’s just with this theme that it doesn’t work.
I’m glad with all the help I could get or I just have to switch theme I’m afraid.
]]>I can comment on posts when I do it through the “Dashboard > Comments” or when I log out of my site.
I first tried to resolve the issue through my WordPress theme provider, but everything is compatible with WordPress on their end, so the issue should be with Jetpack.
Checking Jetpack options, I currently have the option ticked that allows users to comment using their WordPress.com, Twitter, Facebook or Google account. When I switch that option off, I can comment on posts as administrator. When the option is switched on again, the same issue presents itself.

I used your plugin for few months now and it works super as what I can see.
Although my site is not yet live. I didn’t some testing on it. No spamming whatsoever.
Also very lightweight, this destroyer is straight forward focusing for spams.
unlike some others have all kind of different features that also cause issues and makes website running slow as well.
I am giving 5 stars overall…
Keep up the good work. Thanks so much.
