Complaints about ProfileGrid

Hello Sir,

ProfileGrid is based on the Group structure.

But by trying and testing the plugin based on the Group structure, I saw that a lot of things are wrong.

1.) Each Group having its own Registration Form is a bad idea.

So if I have 1,000(One Thousand) Groups, there would be 1,000 Registration Forms on the website?

Does this make sense to you at all?

In my opinion, that’s a pointless monstrosity, unnecessary duplicity, and tautological verbosity.

A BETTER WAY
For a Community and Social Network website, I believe that the standard hierarchy is:
1.) Website.
2.) Registration.
3.) Profile.
4.) Groups.

What this means, is that the first thing we should have, is the website.

Once the website exists, and people want to access Community contents on it, they should Register. And this is the Second (2nd) Step.

After Registration, they should automatically have a Profile, based on the Email, plus whatever else data was collected from them. This is the Third (3rd) Step.

Since they now have a Profile, they should be able to Join a Group. This is the Fourth (4th) Step.

My emphasis is really on Step 2 (Registration) and Step 4 (Join Group).

In Web Development, we have something called “Scope“. And we’ve been told that there are 2 Types of Scope:

Global Scope: a component that can be used anywhere on the entire website.

This means that the Registration should be a Global Scope because it grants access to almost the entire website.

Local Scope: the features of the component can only be accessed from within the component.

This means that Groups should be Local Scope because their features can only be accessed after Registration.

And the benefits and features of a Group(let’s say Doctors) can only be accessed within that Group.

In such case, scrap the need for separate Registration Form per Group, and let a Global Registration be enough to register on the website, and be enough to grant access to all available Groups of the website!

2.) SEARCH IS NOT ACCURATE

Can you Please improve on your Search Algorithm?

3.) BASIC THINGS ARE DIFFICULT IN PROFILEGRID
WordPress already has BuddyPress. And BuddyPress is Free!

If we are going to use ProfileGrid, I expected that it would be because ProfileGrid would have done some things better by default.

But I see you bloating ProfileGrid with unnecessary extensions.

a.) For example, the Contextual Login/Logout Menu should be in Core, and doesn’t have to be an extension.

b.) By default in BuddyPress, users URL are automatically set to [my domain.com/members/username ] and that’s pretty by default.

ProfileGrid is giving us [my domain.com/my-profile/?uid=57 ] which isnt pretty, and we then need an unnecessary extension to fix it (https://profilegrid.co/extensions/user-profile-custom-slugs/)

By default, set the Permalink to Post Name, so that we can by default have it as [my domain.com/my-profile/username ]

Then if people are not satisfied with this, let them get the Custom URL Slug extension to change that.

c.) By default, all Members are supposed to belong to the default Group, and there’s supposed to be a Setting that enables us to set a particular Group as default Group.

On my website, Elevation Church (Global) is my default Group, but I don’t see all my users belonging to it.

I’m still struggling to find how to make this happen.

Whereas in BuddyPress, this is a no brainer. It’s just a native and natural feature.

Then if you want more User Directories(probably Groups in ProfileGrid), you achieve that through something called “Member Types“, and you can classify users into different Categories, into different Directories, as you can see here– https://buddyx.cordialmarketplace.com/

But apart from these multiple User Directories extending from a Parent Directory, BuddyPress also has Groups.

IN CONCLUSION
Considering all these issues above, I am concluding that it’s more stressful using ProfileGrid.

The user experience of ProfileGrid is a bit of a hassle and stress.

Now, there are some good things that wants to look like nice upgrades that ProfileGrid wants to do better than BuddyPress.

But I’m sorry to say that ProfileGrid is however getting the basics wrong, and you are making user experience to be a bit of a hassle and stress.

4.) VERBOSE EXPANSION
There are some items in the Global Settings which have only One Setting. I’m talking of items like:
—Profile Tabs Settings.
— Private Profile.
— Profile Notifications Settings.

These items do not need their own Settings Component.

They should come under another Component called “User Profile“, as indicated here— https://prnt.sc/QXNvJMx_Wk7b

In your next update, push these items to the “General” in Global Settings, or create a new Settings Component called “User Profile” and push them there.

We upgraded plugin for ’embed any doc’ on Friday – in all my confirmation emails there is no reference to a licensing key that WordPress requires:

see the email I sent to both microsoft AND embedanydocument.com earlier citing screenshots/documentation needed to access what I need.

The upgrade was $40. The expense is not the concern, it’s the lack of support for a product you sell and microsoft endorses that bothers me. In all confirmation correspondence received upon receipt of the upgrade, none cited an Envato purchase key needed (see screenshot in complaint message below)

Does WordPress offer help for people who have purchased a theme and are having difficulties with the developer?

I bought a theme and had trouble getting the demo to work on my site. The only time ever, I haven’t been able to get a demo to work. The developer is insisting on getting access to my site to install the plugin, which I refuse to give, and all I want is a refund (product too much hassle to get working) and he refuses to acknowledge or respond to the request, just repeatedly demands access to my site?

One expects WordPress to promote reputable people not con artists.

My client used this plugin for 2 years, and all was good. The issue I have witht hem is that they continue to debit my account with the annual fee. I have emailed them numerous times and have had no response.

Be aware of this subscription. Great product, but this is unacceptable. I ave reported them with my bank. But dont know where else to turn to.

SENDGRID is a SCAM. They were bought out by Trilio, once you registered and entered your card details they will simply ignore you. No way of cancelling. Also check out their Facebook page and see the thousands of customers complaining. Impossible to get any support from their website.

If 5.0 becomes the default, WordPress will soon die. Besides the huge opensource library of add-ins, the primary benefit of wordpress was an easy editor for both content writers as well as strong HTML editors. Not only is the whole block thing hugely clunky, it creates terrible HTML. Most of the easy adds such as adding an image, I couldn’t even find much less you lose almost all ability to move the image to where you want in the posts. The constant ‘error’ messages are also crazy.

If I wanted a

tage everywhere, I would do it myself, instead I have the pleasure of deleting them everywhere and getting an error message. I was literally about to throw it all away until I cound the classic editor plug-in which went back to the old editor. This is, of course, crazy to have to install plug-in to removve the upgrade. I suggest the next version, removes the gutenburg completely and if people want it they can add a plug in for it.

We recently purchased a template/theme from RocketTheme and so far I regret it. The demo will not install properly, most images are missing. I can’t figure out which page is the index so I can modify it. Nothing seams straightforward. But worst of all the the lack of support once we made the payment. Technical issues can usually be ironed out with a little discussion from customer support. But RocketThemes doesn’t provide customer support unless you pay extra and I don’t think it’s right to charge extra for something that should work right out of the box.
I can’t get the Spectral Theme to work. The demo won’t install properly. I can’t figure out where the index page is. I can’t see the layout in the editor, it’s just a blank page in the editor. The preview shows a real page, however missing the images. If I have to go into the hard code to make all the changes it defeats the purpose to buy a template and risks breaking the mobile compatibility of the site.
