I bought the domain through wordpress but now have bills, emails and info requests from all sorts of places (bluehost) and I just want everything simplified so I have one bill, one place to alter my blog and an easy life…the most recent was a request for a CSL code for my SSL cert (???) a simple host search brings up Unifiedlayer as my host but I have no idea how that happened and I just want it simple and easy….please advise my best steps to make this old fella have an easy life!!
]]>A long illness and etc. meant I’ve been away for a fair while. I’ve just started again with a new host. I’ve been able to install WP o.k. and have tried many themes from WP directory & third parties.
I can’t make head nor tail of things now. The blocks confuse me. The themes generally seem to have no demo content that could guide me.
Some of the options are familiar but I’m having real trouble creating menus and even when there is one and I have content for it it doesn’t seem to appear.
I have tried reading written help files and things but I just can’t get my. head around how to get hold of either the classic or the block editor. I’d prefer the classic one as it is with what I have most familirity.
So, I’m stuck. If anyone can help, I’d appreciate it. Would be great if someone could suggest a them with demo material, preferably free, that I could use to get me back into things.
However, I’d appreciate any advice or help.
If I’m in the wrong place or too stupid then please just ignore or moderator please delete.
I never had problems in the past and don’t know whether I’ve got early onset Alzheimers or am just stupid. This is probably my last attempt to sort things out before I give it away and reconcile to a life wihout sites. Perhaps that is the best thing for me.
I’ll leave it there. Sorry if this is an inconvenience or sounds ridiculous to anyone. I don’t like being a nuisance.
r.
]]>I have wasted countless hours dealing with dozens of plugins that do pretty much the same thing, but in vastly different ways, most of which are long on sales pitch and pretty short in delivery.
I am used to writing all my HTML, CSS, and JS by hand and WP has me so confused and frustrated, i feel like my skills are useless now. I am so unproductive because i’m spending so much time reading poorly written documentation for something i end up not using, more often than not.
How do you all navigate the sea of half baked themes and plugins that make sense to everyone else but me? Just do a search for a modal plugin. Now, which one should i use? It took me 3 hours to find one that that i could work with. Normally, id code it and have it stylized in a matter of 20 minutes.
Do you see my frustration?
]]>1. Get the latest WordPress zip (or tar.gz) file.
(I did this)
2. Unpack the zip file that you downloaded.
(No problem)
3. Deactivate plugins.
(Easy peasy)
4. Delete the old wp-includes and wp-admin directories on your web host (through your FTP or shell access).
(A piece of cake)
5. Using FTP or your shell access, upload the new wp-includes and wp-admin directories to your web host, in place of the previously deleted directories.
(Great)
6. Upload the individual files from the new wp-content folder to your existing wp-content folder, overwriting existing files…(Woah!!! – can smeone tell me the difference between my new and my existing folder – my existing one IS my new one. And what’s with this switching from using ‘directory’ in step 5, to using ‘folder’ in step 6 mullarkey?)
Do NOT delete your existing wp-content folder. Do NOT delete any files or folders in your existing wp-content directory (except for the one being overwritten by new files). (Woah!!! – there you go with that existing and new thing again…surely they’re one and the same?)
7. Upload all new loose files from the root directory of the new version to your existing wordpress root directory.
(I didn’t get this far. I have no idea what is new and what is existing anymore!)
Can anyone clarify what I’m supposed to do?
]]>Minor note here, within the web-to-lead.php file in the feed_settings_fields_field_map function you’ll find that both the _message and _description fields are both labeled as ‘Message’;
array(
'name' => 'message',
'required' => false,
'label' => __('Message', 'gravity-forms-salesforce')
),
array(
'name' => 'description',
'required' => false,
'label' => __('Message', 'gravity-forms-salesforce')
),
From the Mapping table this makes it impossible to distinguish unless you inspect to see the html.
Thanks
]]>When an employer/recruiter browses the Resumes of candidates, how do they understand they they must purchase a package to view related contact details?
On my website, I have the add-on installed but there is no explainatory click button on screen to tell employer what to do next.
See website: https://digimarketjobs.com/resume/sarah-i3cwx6dr-marketing-analyst-liverpool/
If an employer likes above Resume, what do they do next?
Another final problem: how can I reduce the URL lenght of job and resume pages? You can see how long the above URL is.
I look forward to hearing from you.
