This is a real pain, and means that restoring becomes a time-consuming process as every site page needs to be reviewed and edited. It can’t be the backup plugin, as previously I had the same issue when I asked the host to restore from one of their backups. Is this a database or utf problem? Or could it be something to do with the super cache plugin that is installed on both sites?
]]>I’ve encountered a very weird problem, and having gone through lots of tips and suggestions online, none of them have worked so far.
Problem: I was trying to save some Chinese characters as part of my menu navigation label in WP admin panel (under Appearance -> Menu), e.g. Say I wanna save “首页” into the label, but it turns out as “é|?é?μ”
I’ve tried setting charset and collation in config.php to utf8 and utf8_general_ci.
I’ve also checked all the database tables’ collations, it’s all utf8_general_ci.
the problem seems happening at the saving time only because I directly find that navigation label and edit inside the database through phpmyadmin, and it display the chineses character flawlessly in WP admin panel menu page, which means the WP can successfully read the chineses character from database without any problems. HOWEVER, when I save it again, it’s gets corrupted, so the problem must be at the stage where WP writes data into the database.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. THANK YOU.

]]>Last week, using version 2.0, I lost access to the visual text editor. So, I decided to upgrade to version 2.9. After doing this, I discovered that corrupted characters began to appear in my past and future posts particularly where the apostrophe is to supposed to be displayed.
The following is an example I discovered upon doing a random search.

Hello My Fellow Web Searching Searchlights,?
As you may know, the Microsoft Bing search engine has some very nice and useful features that give Google a proverbial a€?run for its moneya€?.
However, as a low vision person using a screen magnifier, one of the most annoying aspects of Bing is the default background image that appears when the online search engine is launched.?
Although neither obvious nor intuitive, Microsoft does allow this background image to be turned off resulting in a plain background in order to more easily distinguish text.
To disable the Bing default background image, after entering the enginea€s URL in your browsera€s Address Bar, add the following parameter:
/?rb=0 or Click Here.

Please help.

]]>I am trying to transfer my blog from a Windows-server to a Linux server account within the same web host.
I downloaded all my original database tables, and then imported them, all via phpMyAdmin, to the new loacation; but unfortunately, when I go to the target website (pat.feldman.com.br), I get corrupted characters where accents were in place. Otherwise, everything is fine! Can you, please, help me solve this issue?
