I just installed the plugin a few weeks ago and sent test mail to my mobile phone email address and gmail, and I could read them with no problem.
However, I get “Could not instantiate mail function” when i try to send mails.
I read your forms but none of them seems to match with my situation.

Dear everyone who could help me with this,

I’m helping some people out with organizing their symposium. People need to book via the website (www.symposiumND.be).

I was changing the default emails. After a test these worked fine. But all over sudden the mailing function stopped working. Visitors get the error:
Booking succesfull, pending confirmation (you will also receive an email once confirmed). However, there were some problsm whilst sending confirmation emails to you and/or the event contact person. You may want to contact them directly and letting them know of this error.

Testing mail also doesn’t work:
Email does not work.
Could not instantiate mail function

In other words: the bookings work fine, but people won’t receive the confirmation mails. Can someone help me with this?

I got through 200 emails of a 800 email queue, and they’ve stopped sending a list of 20, with an error that the Could not instantiate mail function. If I go to configurations, and test my email configurations, the test email works fine. This stopped yesterday, when I was running WP version 3.9.2. I updated to 4.0 this morning to no change.

class-phpmailer.php problem with function EncodeHeader

Hello.
I’ve recently installed a new wp website (Hebrew language).
However I’ve encountered a problem with new user registration, the users never received the email from the system.
After checking with my host and making sure that a simple php mail script is being sent I’ve tried to debug the code and ended up in class-phpmailer.php on

$rt = @mail($to, $this->EncodeHeader($this->SecureHeader($this->Subject)), $body, $header, $params);

when removing the EncodeHeader the mail is sent properly. I’ve tried to debug this further but couldn’t figure out the exact problem.
It seems that the EncodeHeader function breaks the headers and the mail function fail sending the email.
I’ve seen this error repeating on several post as “could not instantiate mail function”. the users are usually guided to use smtp instead of php mail.

I have set up the form but it does not send anything, despite the form coming back saying: “Your message has been sent, thank you.”

I have done a test send which says: “Could not instantiate mail function”

But I have no idea what to do now. Any ideas?
