If say a post is opened under category “lifestyle” then it should show an image related to lifestyle in sidebar and so on for other categories.

I tried various Custom Category Field plugins but none of them worked.

For example I have a thumbnail image of a youtube video, and I’d like it to link to https://www.youtube.com/v/nBFhvrAOFqY instead of my post. Other times I much just want it to link to a larger version of the image, and other times simply the post itself. i.e. I need some sort of custom field to enter for my thumbnail/featured post image.

i’d like for the following to happen when a user clicks on a work, they are take to a work page. On the right you can see i invoke the_category call out. I’d like for these links to take the user back to a grid like the homepage but only displaying the grid of work that is within that category instead of all the work. Make sense?

My custom post types have custom meta data fields associated with them using add_meta_box.

I would like to be able to add a meta box that would allow you to select and upload an image, which is then uploaded and attached to the post over AJAX. The path to the attached images would then be stored as the value of the meta box and the image displayed on the write panel.

Ideally some resizing of the uploading images would be allowed.

I would like to hear how this could be done, without plug-ins.
