I’m trying to create a home page for this site that displays only ONE complete blog post on the homepage, and then, in a menu perhaps in a column to the right, I could have links to other posts from the month, and then perhaps, an archive to older posts under that.
Right now, all of my posts are displaying as excerpts on the front page. (These are temporary placeholder posts btw)
Thank you for your help!

I like the look and feel of my home page, but I don’t believe it provides enough of a map around my site. It gets straight to the content before I can make an introduction.
So far I’ve been able find a way to add text content on top of the post through custom css that looks like this:
body.blog main::before {
content: ““I’m not sure what I’ll do, but— well, I want to go places and see people.” – F Scott Fitzgerald”;
border-bottom: 1px solid #000;
display: block;
margin-bottom: 40px;
margin-right: 40%;
padding-bottom: 25px;
font-size: 21px;
font-family: “Droid Serif”;
font-style: italic;
text-align: center;
}
However I can’t add html formatting to the “content” within the css as needed. I would like to add links and possibly images to the top of my home page, and this appears to be beyond the ability of my current css.
Can anyone find a solution to editing the top of my home page as needed?
This is my first post on the forum. Thank you in advance for any help!
]]>Also, this website was designed by someone who is not longer at our church. I do not know how to find the text “Welcome to Cornerstone” that is on the homepage or the logo at the top..is that in the customize section that wont open because it is not on the edit homepage section?
And, lastly, on the homepage in the right side bar area is a white empty box. How do I delete that so that my text flows across the whole page?
I know there are a lot of question, I would appreciate any help!

]]>Please excuse any blaring ignorance as I’m a newbie here.
I am using WP Theme 2012 and I would like my front page to show only the latest post or a preview of all posts (not all the posts in one long page).
What is the best way to do this? Widget something I’m missing within the theme?
Thanks a million!

As you’ll see when you go to the home page, it takes you to all of the posts in one long page. I would like it to either preview all of the posts or only show the last.
I like this theme because of the portfolio; https://themeforest.net/item/handbook-responsive-ajax-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/6409600
But I don’t want the home page to look like that. The look I want for the homepage is this; https://www.yootheme.com/demo/wordpress/moustache
Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the look I’m going for?
I know there’s a bunch of plugins for a full screen background image – but would it be possible to only have that on the homepage with my logo on top of it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Thanks!
