Hi, recently, while reviewing the database for areas where we could improve performance, I noticed certain options in the wp_options table are autoloaded and contain a significant amount of information. Particularly, I was drawn to the udb_recent_admin_menu option associated with Ultimate Dashboard plugin.

I would like to better understand the rationale behind autoload loading this option. Is it essential for it to load with every request? Is there a possibility to reduce its autoload or load it more selectively?

This plugin is a complete game-changer. It’s essentially an interface between front-end HTML and backend MySQL. It’s unbelievably powerful and customizable with technical proficiency. I understand that some have been concerned about the limitations of the free or lower-tier versions, but I very quickly realized that this plugin is well worth the money. I think they’ve basically recreated Microsoft Access in HTML form (with a few notable limitations).

This thing can handle mountains of data and effortlessly normalizes all of it. It handles files well, permissions, and customizability. Not to mention utilizing the API and some PHP lets you fully integrate an entire database on your site for whatever your purposes.

If you’re doing simple, low level tasks with little need for customization, I suspect the basic versions will suffice. If you’re planning to do higher level, complex tasks involving data management, it’ll do that too (and I believe the pricing scales proportionately).

This thing changed the way I run my business. I’ve legitimately thought about creating a youtube video series to help teach people how to work with some of its features. It’s just incredible. I can’t list everything I love about it.

This plugin has everything you need to manage tables (wp and your own) and publish them. It allows you to pre-publish data under user role control and then to make it available on your website in different formats using shortcodes.
We use it to manage a data which changes on a weekly basis (pickleball ladder tournaments). It is ideal for this project.
Truly an environment which allows you to create an application without having to worry about re-inventing the wheel.
No hesitation in recommending it to anyone willing to experiment and learn.

Yoast Installer Wizard Values Not Persisting

We’re having issues with both the original installation and even re-installed versions of the plugin.

Site Info Overview:
Site Version: WordPress 5.6
Theme: Divi 4.7.7
Yoast Version: 16.0.2

Steps To Recreate:
? After installing Yoast SEO plugin initially, use the setup wizard to set the options required to use the plugin.
? After completing all 9 initial steps with the Setup Wizard. Use the setup Wizard again to change the options (i.e. small business -> corporation, or disable multi-author, etc.).
? Check the database or wizard again to see the options persisted–your change will not appear, the radio button for the option previous chosen in the first setup will be persisted.
? Uninstall plugin, DELETE records from wp_options and wp_postmeta related to wpseo, and DROPed wp_seo tables. After this purge, reinstalled plugin, and repeated steps 1-3 with the same results.
Scoured the forums, web, stackedOverflow and WordPress support for this issue, and cannot find a resolution. Would love to see if you’ve solved this for others in the past, with a similar experience.

With this you wield great power. That is the power to not touch phpmyadmin or any other database management tool. And it comes with the ability to do a test run, by default. That feature allows for running your replacement and seeing what will be affected, without touching anything. Absolutely amazing plugin!

Oh and you can also check the option to update the GUID (or permanent address) for the database items. That’s amazing!

Switched to WP Fastest Cache when W3 Total Cache started doing weird things to my site. My hosting developer suggested the move. Started trials using the standard version – worked really well – substantial improvement in site load speed. We then decided to go Pro and also leverage a CDN. Throughout the process the plugin has worked well and whenever we have had any questions customer support dealt with them really quickly and a solution very clearly explained. Cannot recommend this plugin and developer highly enough. Our site now loads sub 2 seconds, with CDN (prior to any cache tool 10+ seconds, using W3 Total cache 4-6seconds).

Can’t download backups since update

Hi there,

Just updated wordpress and updated wp–dbmanager.

Now when the backup is created, I cannot download or email the non-zipped copies. It just gives me a blank screen inside wordpress.

The zipped files seem to be OK.

Is there a setting that limits the size of the files that can be retrieved?

Using WP to replace MS Access

Hello-

I would like to use WP to replace MS Access. I would like to keep track of employees, colleagues, inventory, and other contacts; also to track the billing of clients.

MS Access does not work for us anymore because it is not accessible to Macs, while WP is an online cross-platform solution.

If anyone could point me in the right direction with this I would greatly appreciate it.
