Using Desktop server to setup WordPress

Hello everyone, I just started learning WordPress. I do not have money to pay for a hosting page like bluehost and the likes so I am learning with desktop server. I ran into an issue earlier this day and I am hoping I will get few advice on how to get past this issue. Thanks in advance.

So, I first used desktop server to download WordPress 5.3, I was able to create some sites and I checked out the interface. I then updated my WordPress and I got the 5.7.2 version. There’s a tutorial video I am following, I was told to download some plugins and baseline theme. I downloaded these plugins and baseline theme. I did accordingly as instructed but when I wanted to create a website, the website didn’t create. I don’t know what to do.

Hi,
I have been building a website using wordpress and have been using Desktop Server also.
I had set up the site under the URL https://www.example2.dev and had that bookmarked and just clicked on it every time I wanted to access my site to edit it etc. However I just came back to it after over a week of having not gone on the site, and the URL isn’t working. When I click on it I just get “Page can’t be found”.
I really don’t know what to do as I don’t have that much knowledge about this whole thing. Did I change my URL and if so how do I figure out what it is now?
I don’t know how to login to wordpress otherwise. Is my site lost forever?
I had worked on it for ages…

Using my desktop server – removed unneeded plugins and added a delete revision optimize plugin. Ran optimizer and was greeted with an error.

Added define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true); to wp-config.php and got this error…

Hey guys!

I made a mistake and installed the online server before installing the desktop server. Now, when I ask the desktop server to connect to my website it simply shows me the following message. What can I do?

Does this work with DesktopServer?

I’m getting the dreaded: “An error occurred processing your request. Try decreasing the “Max Page Size”, or contact support.” error. I have already tried lowering the Max Page Size setting to minimum. I am running this on DesktopServer locally.

install not working anymore

I installed WordPress locally, bookmarked the website in internet explorer. Logged in and everything looked ok. I used serverpress/desktop server

Two days later I go to the book mark
https://www.ohioreproductivemedicine.dev/wp-login.php
and get the following error

Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to www.ohioreproductivemedicine.dev

Not sure what to do next?

Migrating from Live Site to Local Site

I would like to migrate my live WP site to a local Desktop Server Limited site. ServerPress’s Desktop Server creates a folder www.example.dev.

How can I import my .com site to the .dev suffix required by ServerPress.

Can I use Find and Replace to find example.com and replace with example.dev?

Empty page when trying to add new language [loco translate]

ok I installed loco translate and can see the plugin’s dashboard where it lists all the themes and plugins for translation and the languages already available.

I click on “+ new language” for one of the plugins I want to work on a translation (mycred) and am redirected to this url:

www.mydomain.dev/wp-admin/admin.php?name=mycred%2Fmycred.php&type=plugin&msginit=mycred&page=loco-translate

But the url page is completely blank (checked page source)!

the same thing happens for all other clickable links in the loco translate plugin. for exmaple, clicking on the “Template POT” column where it says “mycred.pot”:

of clicking on the “File Permissions” column where it says “check mark OK”:

I have no idea why but could it be that I’m in a local environment instead of a hosted server? I’m using desktopserver by serverpress: https://serverpress.com/products/desktopserver/

Do I Need to Have a Host to Start Building?

Desktop Server no longer accessible

I have Desktop Server installed to learn www.ads-software.com so I can migrate a WordPress.com site. It was working fine but now I get ‘Can’t find script engine VB script’. On Googlr all I could find was a suggestion to edit the register. I’m not technical enough to know how to do that nor to want to try in case I make things worse. Anyone know (a) what the problem might be (b) if there is an easy fix. I tried re-installing Desktop Server but still the same. Many thanks.
