I have turned on the mobile theme and added the correct menu and it works.
However,
the site looks so much better when it is viewed in desktop mode.
If I switch off the mobile theme, the mobile site looks great but the menu won’t work.
It’s there ready to be touched to be dropped down but it won’t do anything.
Is there a way to have the desktop look of my site but with the user friendly (i.e. working menu) that the mobile theme has?

]]>But when I actually go and check in my mobile, it either shows a desktop version or a mixed version of desktop and the mobile theme.

A few weeks ago, I disabled my mobile responsiveness in an attempt to allow mobile users to view only my full site. This worked perfectly for a few days, but all of a sudden, when viewing my site from a mobile, the theme is completely different from foodie pro (current theme) and back to a mobile view.

]]>I’ve been playing around with my Jetpack mobile theme plugin.
It displayed the mobile version after I enabled it.
Then I clicked at the bottom, ‘view normal site’ (I forget)
and now when I refresh the page, it always shows the desktop instead of the mobile theme.
Why isn’t there an option (button/link) to switch back to the mobile version on my iphone (5s)?

]]>having a bit of a bummer of an issue…I have 2 themes. One is a desktop theme and looks great on tablets and desktops but on mobiles it looks naff even with responsive design in place. Thats why i designed a separate entity that will work well for smart phones.
I’ve tried adding the little bit of code to functions.php for the desktop theme which is : –
$home = get_page_by_title( ‘home’ );
update_option( ‘page_on_front’, $home->ID );
update_option( ‘show_on_front’, ‘page’ );
and this to the mobile theme functions.php : –
update_option( ‘show_on_front’, ‘posts ‘ );

I then installed and tried a couple of plugins. First one is Device Theme Switcher & the other was Any Mobile Theme Switcher, the 2nd one I thought had cracked it but then a colleague visited the site via the desktop and it showed the mobile site when the desktop site should have been displayed…
…if there is anyone out there that knows what is going wrong , pleeeeease help.
Would it be worth having a sub domain for the mobile site that redirects anyone accessing via a smart phone to that url? Is that one of the easiest options without touching much of the php?

]]>Great plugin, this is the only mobile detection script I could find that correctly differentiated between mobiles and tablets. Easy to use and awesome!
I had an issue with the links on the desktop site redirecting back to the mobile site. Predictably, it was a cookie issue, solved by following instructions from another support ticket. Just thought I’d post this in case someone else has the same issue.

For clarity changed lines 963 & 964 from:
COOKIEPATH,
str_replace(‘https://www’,”,get_bloginfo(‘url’)));
to just one line:COOKIEPATH);

]]>Maybe we can start a list of good looking and modern themes and ecommerce/shop plugins that work well on the desktop and also on modern smart phones and tablets.
All I have been able to find is WAP looking mobile commerce and themes. Everything I have found is very old school WAP looking…. not very attractive for a modern website.
