Man, am I grateful to have this Plugin in order to escape the BS they have done to WordPress by introducing this idiotic editor “upgrade”. First I was falling back to “old” WP versions, then I was happy to find this classic editor “partial downgrade if you want, and that saved the day.

We had distraction-free writing alright with WP, so I really don’t see why this Facebook-style redesign of the default editor had to be done.

Thank you guys for rescuing the great “old” editor for all of us!

I’m started to test on my blog, and I really like the block philosophy. Very clean and seems simple to me. However, Gutenberg cannot handle third-party plugins at the moment, like YOAST Seo, or other types. The image handling is a joke – cannot define exact size in pixels. When I want to combine with the text (to be embedded the photo into the text, for example to left), the blocks starts to act weirdly.
I’m really into the Gutenberg, cause for the article writing and blogging is adding a more streamlined editor and feel. A little bit got the feeling like when the WordPress introduced the distraction free writing for the first time.
Also, I suggest building a switcher with that we can switch back and forward between classic editor and Gutenberg editor. Many people using WordPress capabilities in a more serious way, maybe they need the classic editor.

Anyway to bring back full screen writing in 4.1 ?

Ever since WordPress updated 4.1, full screen writing has been removed in the editing page. Instead, it got replace by distraction free writing. It only removes the two sidebar and everything else, except for the editing areas.

I preferred the full screen writing over the distraction writing before 4.1. Is there an option or a plugin to restore the full screen writing?

I find it slightly ironic that the Tool Tip highlighting the Distraction-Free Writing mode actually obscures some of the text box that I’m trying to write a post in.

How do I switch it off as I don’t want to see this every time. Thanks.

Distraction Free Writing –want the old back

Hi,

Any way to get the old DFW back, where the full page was displayed? (I think it was version 4.0?). Is there an “optional” button for this, where we have the option of using the old vs the new?

Will I have to down grade to get that feature back the way it was?

Save function on WP 4.1

I like the new distraction-free writing mode … but is there any way to return the “save” or “update” button at the top? With the new update, you now have to leave distraction-free mode, scroll to the top and click “update.” Kind of cumbersome.

Have some problem using qtranslate Plus

Actually have online www.bbottelioblog.com & using old qtranslate and works fine.
Just testing wp 4.0 with twentifourteen theme at

using ptranslate plus. it works well, but when I go to the page end edited, no text and pics are shown in full page view (vibile only title page)
Also in normal edit page, there aren’t the possibility to increase the basic rows shown normally.

Feature request: Add Headings and Lists to Context menu

I have posted before about the evil Distraction Free Writing mode that steals my buttons.

However the brilliant TinyMCE Advanced “Context Menu” may provide a workaround because this works in full screen (Distraction Free Writing) mode.

Please add to the Context Menu

How do I make TinyMCE Advanced work full screen?

When I click the “Full Screen” button on the TinyMCE Advanced toolbar I expect to launch into a full screen editor with TinyMCE buttons.

Actually TinyMCE launches into WordPress’ Distraction Free Writing environment. This is useless.

How do I get my lovely TinyMCE Advanced buttons available in full screen mode?

Additional note
When I configure TinyMCE Advanced I see a Full Screen button that looks like a CRT Monitor but in WordPress the button looks like WordPress’ own 4 way arrow.

Distraction free writing didn't save my long post!

Hi,

I wrote a long post, clicking frequently on the Save button, using the distraction free writing mode.
I closed the browsers, reopened it, went back to wordpress, and found out that my long post hadn’t been saved. I worked on it the whole morning and I’m sure I clicked on the Save button quite often as I don’t trust the autosave function enough.
What happened?
And is there any way I can recover my job?
The post revisions are useless. There are no traces of my today changes to the post.
I checked an old ticket related to the distraction free writing implementation I believe https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/17136
and I found that a tester had what seems to be my same issue, but apparently that was 21 months ago and this was supposed to be fixed.
Could you please help me?
