As someone who had an award-winning site that garnered millions of hits, I abandoned the site years ago only to return and find WP has changed over to Gutenberg. This will now take its place with Microsoft Office as yet another prime example of what happens when you try to dumb things down only to make them more complicated and difficult to use. The classic editor was great, but the folks upstairs decided that using code was too complicated for people so they came up with the dumb idea of blocks. The only problem is blocks are difficult to edit or modify. To name it Gutenberg and compare it to the invention of movable type is ridiculous. It is as if Gutenberg’s movable type were replaced with blocks of type all glued together under assigned arbitrary uses like headlines, ads, etc. so that it is impossible to actually write an original headline or even modify the typeface used for it.

Jetpack has decided that the IP address that hosts my entire WP install is “has been flagged for potential security violations”.

When I got to wordpress.com to override this stupidity, my attempt to whitelist the server IP address is met with “An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later.”

Please advise how I get access to my own self-hosted WP install now and stop this incredible idiocy from ever happening again.

The “send yourself an email” thing just sends me right back to the “flagged for potential security violations” screen.

When did Jetpack become stupid?

Hello

Your new updates crashed my wp install with a really dumb error box.

Rolling back I get it working again and I will go to my hosting to ask about php upgrades.

Wouldn’t have been smarter to pop a dialogue and deactivate the plugin rather than crashing our running installs out to a plain dialogue with no recourse?

Disappointing effort.

Clicking “All day event” should make the time fields disappear…instead they do the exact opposite.

Come on guys…new versions are supposed to fix bugs not create silly new ones.

Alright, I’m hosted with 000webhost, trying to get a blog up and running. In the readme for wordpress, I’m on step 5, when I click the admin/install thing, i get a weird page with lots of symbols and jumbled text. How do I fix this?

Noob with probably easy install issue.

First off, I’m entirely new to this whole website business. So, bear with me through the inevitable dumb.

I installed wordpress to a sub-directory (sub-folder?) on my site and realized that I didn’t want that, I wanted it installed on the main domain. Well, I removed it. Now I’m trying to install it on my main domain and it gives me this:

“The installation can not be completed:

– You chose to install in the main directory of the domain 60horsepowerprophet.com, but there are conflicting filenames, therefore we can not proceed. So, what can I do to resolve this?

New to RSS feeds Syndication etc….

Could someone dumb this down for me? I have read a ton of articles on the subject but it still eludes me.
I assume that you want to ‘feed’ your blog information to various RSS newsgroups who will display your content (in your specified manner) on their sites for people to subscribe to &/or read. Right?

How can I see my feed? I checked it it is valid, and I clicked on my links they go to boring HTML pages but what does it look like? And how do I get it do show my blog title and description? How can I get seperate feeds for individual posts?
Do I have to submit these things to the newsgroups or is that what my feed does?
Can you tell I don’t have a clue?
Also….
I installed a plug in called ‘sem-subscribe-me’ that added everything on the sidebar below SYNDICATION, I wanted it to show a link like the others that I would call ‘subscribe me’ and would take you to a page where you could pick your host or whatever….I cannot find the page to do that on. I am going to post this part on their board actually thx
