Every google attempt to find answers I’ve made has skipped over the part where it says where the editable code is. Under ‘Appearance>Editor’ there’s a big old list of various .php links, but when I click on a lot of them, they just come up with a brief description, and then instructions for accessing the correct part e.g. (for footer.php):

This bit about ‘go to“views” inside the “framework” subdirectory…WHERE DOES THE “FRAMEWORK” SUBDIRECTORY EXIST? Should I be able to edit the code in this area of WordPress (and therefore something’s gone wrong) or am I supposed to be accessing the mythical “framework” subdirectory somewhere completely different?

Does this have something to do with ftp? I downloaded Filezilla thinking that that must be the way forward, and then can’t login / connect for love nor money, so that exploratory option is now out.

Could it be something to do with the fact that we are working off of a mirror site e.g. www.domainname.host.co.uk instead of just www.domainname.co.uk?

If anyone can help me at all, that would be amazing! I am a novice trying to upload a database on my website. I am following the step by step guide given to me by my site designer and am experiencing a mapping error when trying to upload a csv file as posts.

The error is as follows:
Error: post_status are mandatory fields. Please map the fields to proceed.

In the instruction from the site designer, when converting the database from xl to csv he’s instructed me to ‘wrap’ and ‘encase’ the text with single quotes. I am not receiving these options after converting the file (I use xl 2010 and believe he may be referring to an older version).

Is there a Dummies Guide to uploading files from xl 2010 to completion?

I am building a homesite for my job and I am having some great trouble figuring out how this ,,child theme thing” works.

I am using WordPress Twenty Eleven Theme and just started to make some changes to it before realizing that something to do with ,,child theme” is necessary if you do not want to loose everything the next time you update your Twenty Eleven.

SO:

My question is:

Will I loose all my changes next time an update is available?

AND

Could I possibly make a child theme with the changes already made now?

AND

How do I make a child theme?
