I have now determined the underlying cause to be Emojis in posts e.g. Four character Emojis like U+2639 will still save BUT five character ones like U+1F600 will not save and I get the error (NOTE: I namely copy and paste posts written on Substack that contains numerous Emoji flags, etc., in headers, headlines, etc). .
I am not sure why this suddenly started to happen a few months ago and according to Google, other people have had this problem + I have asked about this problem on the GeneratePress Forum (it does NOT appear to be the theme and it was suggested that I ask this question on a wider forum).
Note: I have another (static) website with no posts but Emojis on pages (limited to a few types though) and I am not having this problem – 4 & 5 character emojis will save in posts (I am also not having the problem if I copy and paste a post from Substack and save it as a post on this other website). The theme is the same albeit there are some different and fewer plug-ins. Everything has been updated.
I have disabled:
I have a plugin to insert lines of code – is there a line of code that might solve this issue?

]]>We are using a gift card plugin (https://www.pimwick.com/gift-cards/) in conjunction with WooCommerce, and when we add an emoji to the gift card message, the gift card is not able to add to cart.
We spoke to our gift card plugin support team and they tried deactivating all plugins including the gift card plugin, leaving on only WooCommerce. They then added the “Extra Product Options” plugin which will allow for a custom field to be added to the product page.
Then they created a Simple Product type and a simple Text field for the extra product option. When trying to add the product to the cart with an emoji, it also fails to add to cart.
So it seems like it is an issue with WooCommerce… Does anyone have any ideas how we might solve this?
Many thanks,
Paul
]]>I just commented on my blog and used three emojis but they don’t show up in the comment after the comment is posted. This makes me really sad because I was so happy to find your plugin and I really want to have emojis in my comments.
]]>Is it possible to disable the emojis?
What options are there to solve the problem?
