I just loaded wordpress thru ipower hosting get the message “Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers for this feature to work.” . I have a .htaccess at the root directory to point my website from lakeontariofishingcharters to www.lakeontariofishingcharters and when I remove it everything seems to work. This is what is in .htaccess:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
rewritecond %{http_host} ^lakeontariofishingcharters.net [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ https://www.lakeontariofishingcharters.net/$1 [r=301,nc]
I am a newbie to all this so try to keep it simple.

The title is frustrating because I have seen it in the forums, however I have not found my answer. I have no firewalls, no anti-virus, no browser blocks. I had a blank shell of a template ready to receive my tweaks from my wp-admin site, made them in the options, clicked “update” and with that I am not able to access my site, my template is gone, just text and I can’t get it back to the way it was.

I am completely green. It took me ALL F*ING DAY to get to where it was when I screwed it up by changing my options. Can anyone help me or am I going to be a Typepad slave forever?

I’m new to wp and I had wordpress up and running on my domain and I went and change domain name in general options to see what will happend and i know I have messed up, now i cannot change back. How to fix this, i tried all the things it said to do from tool, internet options, privacy, delete cookies, and everything. maybe im missing something. It says some kind of security thing. Someone help!

Alright, im sure u have gotten this or maybe not but this is really making me mad. Everytime I make a new post I get this “Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers for this feature to work.” and that gives me a link that leads to this site https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Enable_Sending_Referrers yah u think this would fix’s it but it didn’t so yah I tryed it in IE and firefox. so any suggestions?

First time in over a year of using WP that I’ve had the sending referrers problem.

I read the codex page, and tried the FF fix; I read back through a year of posts on this. None of it helps. I’m not using ANYTHING by norton. I have Zone Alarm, which hasn’t changed since WP was 2.0.1 or 1.5.2 (this is happening now on both versions when upgraded to 2.0.2).

This is the only thing that I get the error with. Anyone else with a problem like this with a plugin?

I have just installed WordPress onto my server and now I am got some errors. When I did the install, it got to Step 2 then showed the following error:

I have done the following:

Internet explorer: put the site URL in both Security and Privacy tabs

Zone Alarm: changed my site and WordPress sites to allow 3rd party cookies

Checked in my database that wp-options had the correct URL

I know the instructions say to change the name of .htaccess but my provider had to modify it to support Firefox to show CSS properly and I don’t want to touch it.

What else should I try?
