As stated here, the age verification that this plugin provides can be broken, which means the plugin does not work 100% of the time unless every user is always honest. If they input a DOB that is lower than the required age, it kicks them back to submit another age at which point they can pick a presumably false DOB to gain access. Like the other poster stated, it should instead redirect the user to a page of the admin’s choosing and/or lock them out of the restricted content for a time length of the admin’s choosing. If you could fix this, that would be great, because as far as I know this is the only up to date age gate plugin for WordPress out there.

age verification fail – no back button to form

Here is a problem that I don’t know if it can be addressed. I think that the plugin works great for what it does, but the problem is that if a person hits the back button they can re-enter their information and pass.

I am wondering if there is any way once they enter their date if it can redirect to a fail page in which they are not allowed to re-enter the date.

I work for a gaming company and the websites we produce is for games that have an M rating by ESRB. According to ESRB rules, the age-gate would need to have a pass or fail (which this plugin does) but if the user enters a date that is lower than the expected age they are not allowed to use the back button to re-enter the date into the age-gate.

What this means is that once they fail, they are redirected to another page. The examples that I can give would be:

When they are passed, you are directed to the home page. If the age verification fails, you are directed to a nopass page. Once you are on the nopass page everytime you try to access the site it redirects you to the nopass page. For ESRB this is a serious matter that it works this way or they will fine a company for not being in compliance.

If anyone can think of a solution, please share it with all of us.

Age Gate for Videos Plugin

I am looking for an age gate plugin.

Preferably one which will only hide the video contents until the correct age is entered.

I’ve tried MistViper AgeGate, it isn’t compatible with WP latest 3.1+

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or if you don’t know a plugin, does anyone know a video site which lets you put on an age lock?

And for those of you who think that this is the time to show off how clever you are, by posting a stupid response about how people just lie – don’t bother. All videos need to be in accordance to the ESRB requirements, and require an age lock.

Looking for gamesite NON-star review mechanism and extrapolated data plugins

I’m wondering if anyone has plans on working on a game review site specific plugin that doesn’t rely on ugly stars or icons. I’ve been looking all over the place for a review plugin that displays much like ‘metacritic’ or ‘gamespot’, allows for the box art to be thumbed into it and the ESRB rating to displayed.

I’m NOT looking for stars (or conversions), lists with stars or hearts, diamonds or any other shiny icon, scalable percentage bars, graphs, nor am I looking for user interactivity with it – just a 300px wide generated box that I can place in the review post that contains my game rating / score, the box image, list of pros, list of cons, ESRB rating (either manually calling a rating image from the media pool, or pulling it from ESRB itself), and the box art (from a source or the ability to pop in a thumbnail and it resize in place of)…

I know there are a lot of game review / blog / news sites with WordPress… and before anyone jumps on me and says “if you want it that bad – make it” – I’m not a coder in any sense of the word

If someone can make this, or at the very least help ME make this (but be reminded, I’m not a coder) then I’m willing to try and come up with a reasonable monetary contribution to whomever, a review of it on my site, and express that you’ve made the game review wordpress blogs infinitely better for it. (It would also help if it worked in Arras theme and WP 2.9.1 )

OR – at the very least, point me to something that exists like what I’ve described and I’ll be eternally grateful (and mention the gratitude on my site – seriously)
