Noticing a lot of fake account sign ups

Thanks for a great plugin. I left a 5 star review but now I’m recently noticing a lot of account user sign ups coming from my website since installing. Usually I get a auto reply email telling me their inbox is full or the email doesn’t exist. Seems to be at least 5 or 10 a day which I am constantly erasing them as Users in my dashboard. Has anyone else noticed an unusual increase in this activity since installing the plugin or perhaps it’s just a coincidence. First time in 9 years since I moved my site to WordPress. I might uninstal for a while and see if things go back to normal.

My site has a lot of fake registers as the domain name like: email.imailfree.cc, imailfree.cc, mailbox.imailfree.cc…

Block false user sign ups

Over the past two weeks, a large number of sign ups have come from wintds.org email addresses. They are all something like test238043042389@ wintds.org.

I’ve tried blocking them with WF to no avail.
I went to Blocking > Custom Pattern > and entered wintds.org in the Hostname, Browser User Agent, and Referer.

Any advice or guidance is appreciated, especially if I’m simply doing this incorrectly.

New user registration despite option turned off

I have just received several successful user registrations from the same email domain (please do not publish emails)

I have NOT ‘Anyone can register’ ticked.

Having enabled debug I can see they are managing this via your forum plugin.
Here is an extract of the debug.log. Please can you let me know how I can stop this?

New user registration despite option turned off

I have just had several new users created on my WordPress site despite the option being turned off. They were all from the same email domain tdska.org eg [email protected]

‘Anyone can register’ is NOT ticked. I have read that user registration in that case is impossible and that I must have been hacked but I can see no other sign of hacking and the new users were set to subscribers (the default role).

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Fake users question…

Hi, my site has a very small forum that’s been running for the last 5 months.
Since setting it up I’ve had perhaps 5 fake accounts try and register but never get past the email validation stage so I could easily delete them.

Today I found around 20 new users, all Approved, all passed email validation with the names a variation of [email protected].

I always receive an email when a new user has made an account – even if they haven’t passed verification, but got nothing for these fake accounts.

I just tried making a test user and received an email and it has been placed in email validation check. So how did this happen with the 20 fake users?

I have ‘Anyone can register’ disabled and am using Google ReCaptcha UM addon.

Our sites been plagued by fake users and bots using completely fake user info. We’ve tried every service and most were able to stop some of the fraud, but this plugin has stopped every bad user. Our team is really happy that they can spend less time reviewing users. Plugin worked great from the start and we even contacted support to clarify a few things and they responded right away.

I have your program installed. I have about 100 fake registartions a day joining my user group. I’m not sure why they do this, but isn’t your program meant to stop this? Can you advise what I can do abou it?

We were having a big problem with fake user accounts on Hire the Homefront. We used this plugin to export the data so we could sort it in excel and then figure out who was fake and who was real to delete the fake ones.

My site is inactive, there’s hardly anything on it yet and it’s in construction mode. When you go onto the site you just see a coming soon page. There’s no where for people to sign up but in the admin area I am seeing over 400 people signed up with customer roles alongside myself as administrator. How is this possible?
