Hi, the plugin is adding a character to the FTP password when it is saved in job settings. A password of 10 characters is saved as 11 characters for some reason. This is causing the FTP server to reject the connection with 530 Login Authentication. How can I can fix this issue?

Hostname FTP Username and Password Are Not Working

Every time I try to install or download a plugin, WordPress asks me for my Hostname, FTP Username, and FTP Password. I use the same information (minus the port) that I do to connect to the server on FileZilla Client, but when I type it in on my dashboard, it says there is an error connecting with the server. Could anyone tell me why, or what I’m doing wrong?

I am trying to update and add plug ins but I’m being asked to put in the FTP password. This information is not known- how can this be reset? It says to contact my web host. What does this mean?

Hi,

I install backupwordpress. Before activation of the plugin, it asks the FTP server password. I don’t have it, gasp! Then I just wan’t to cancel installation but :

– The plugin doesn’t appear in the list of installed plugin, then I can’t delete it.

– If I try to install another plugin, it never works : I’m systematically redirected to FTP password asking page of backupwordpress.

– If I use another site’s FTP access to try to exit the FTP password asking page, nothing happens after validation (I’m redirected to the homepage of the website)

It sucks, I’m blocked and can’t get out of backupwordpress installation process. I don’t have FTP access from here to do anything.

Please help ! What can I do ?

Hi,

I have just bought some WP video tutorials that I have the rights to sell, and I’ve been going through them to see if they are good quality.

They are good, but each time the guy installs a plugin, he gets a page within WP dashboard, where he has to input his Hostname, FTP Username and Password.

I have been using WP for years and have never had to do this step for ANYTHING in the WP admin area.

The only thing that I know of that I do differently to him, is I have always had all my sites on one Reseller WHM area, rather than basic shared hosting.

Would that be the reason I don’t need to re-login to the server, from within WordPress?

Trying to download a plugin I’m asked for my FTP credentials (FTP username and FTP password). Uhhh…what password/username is that? I tried the pwd/username I use for FTP with the domain provider. I tried my WordPress admin credentials. Doesn’t seem to be either of those.
Can anyone clarify?

hi i have an issue with firefox and to play video on my wordpress blog.

i put an jw player on the side and the video is working on safari, chrome and explorer.

if i wanna play it on firefox it requiers the ftp server password.

the videos on the ftp server has all put on 777 so that this cant be the problem and the problem is only on firefox.

It only happens with the videos in the format webM that the password is requiered.

Any idea or experience with that ?

FTP usnername/password – WordPress won't let me type new ones in

I am trying to update to the newest WordPress. Not long ago, I had to delete a username/password for FTP (not my WP username, etc) through my host. Now, WordPress is asking for my FTP user ID/password, but instead of allowing me to type the new ones into the boxes that pop up with the error message, the typing is in light gray and I can’t type in the boxes with the new info.

My host says it’s a WordPress issue. Where do I go to type in the new FTP information?
