I get a Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_importer()
relating to the last lines of the script:
register_importer('geeklog', 'GeekLog', __('Import posts from a GeekLog site'), array ($gl_import, 'dispatch'));
Can someone give me a suggestion what I need to change? I know others have used this script successfully.
Thanks in advance.
I have not moved Socalstandup.com to WordPress for 2 reasons…
1. I have over 1000 members now and I don’t know how to get the database moved/converted. (I’m at the point where I’m almost willing to just add them 1 at a time.) I found a converter but it’s for older versions of Geeklog and WordPress.
2. This is the big one. I run open mics. Every member on my website has a login. Every member is a comedian. Geeklog has an event registration plugin that is SO SIMPLE… The comic logs in with their username and password, they click the event on the sidebar they are interested in, and then all they have to do is hit “REGISTER ME.” They are on the list. I can set the maximum number of comics that can be on a particular event. They can log back in and unregister themselves. It’s really easy. All the WordPress event managers out there that I’ve looked at, make it so they need to fill out forms and additional info that make it harder than how my current event manager is. I just want them to be able to login and get on the list with a click once logged in.
If anyone can safely migrate my users over to WP and point me in the direction or help create a event plugin like the one I use, that would be awesome. I don’t have a very big budget unfortunately (I’m a comic myself…) But I’m really wanting to get this site moved over. Any help or direction you could point me in would be appreciated!
Thanks…
]]>I’ve installed WordPress 2.9.2 and uploaded the import script (from https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/3398) as described.
I’ve already migrated another Geeklog site. However this time, the old Geeklog page includes 650 users, which might be too much. I am always getting Allow memory size error messages.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /path/wordpress/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 302
I’ve even set the memory limit to 256 megabyte and tried out another server.
Geeklog Version: 1.4.0sr6
What else can I do? Is there any way to import 200 users step by step?
I really appreciate your help!!
]]>The main site is at https://www.e-easel.org
The WP site is at https://www.e-easel.org/artifice/
If you go to a non-existant page at the main site (e.g. https://www.e-easel.org/testing404.html), you will get the WP error page.
How can I change the setup so that the error page does not default to WP’s?
Thanks!

]]>How hard would it to be to do this? Are WP themes totally different in structure?
For info, the site is here:
https://www.mcelhearn.com
If someone would be interested, I’d be happy to toss some of my books their way (I write about Macs…) and give them publicity.
Thanks,
Kirk
