Confusion with Godaddy.com

My clint has a hosting with Godaddy.com

he have 2 domain names one domain name is being forward to another domain name with wordpress installed.

we decided to drop the 2nd domain name with the wordpress and use the 1st domain name. Godaddy said to check with wordpress and there is a way to just change 2nd domain ame to 1st domain name without doing anyting except change in the wordpress dashboard.

Am I explainning this clearly? if not please ask and I will try to explain again .

I want to know how to unzip/uncompress my site back up zip.

I hosted my site on VPS. and i decided to move it to ipage.

I uploaded my site backup Zip(80MB) to ipage file manager. but there is no option to Unzip it.

How should i upload it?

Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function.

I have researched this topic to the extent of getting completely confused. Please bear with me. I have been building a site and a blog ad hoc for the past year and now I would like to migrate everything into www.ads-software.com.

1. I have a domain name on godaddy which currently redirects to wordpress.com. I would like to migrate the same domain name over to worpress.org

2. When I migrate to .org, is there a way to bring all my .com archive posts and comments over to the .org.

3. I was just picked by .com as a featured blog on their homepage. will I lose the ranking by moving?

4. is it true that you get less page views on .org?

5. Does .org have stat watchers like .com?

6. What do I do first so as to not lose EVERYTHING. Do I signup with Bluehost first? Then, do I set up the new .org theme and THEN export from .com?

Or do I export from .com to desktop…

What is the best order?

…I really would appreciate simple step by step on this

Error message when going to wp-admin/install.php

I tried to install wordpress on my site, so I uploaded everything by ftp. I believe the MySQL database is not configured correctly. I am hosting with godaddy, and when I go to wp-admin/install.php I get this message:

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.

I created a MySQL database but did not do anything else. I altered the config php script as described in the install process. I uploaded it to the website and not MySQL which I am assuming is the problem. Do I need to import it?

My options on my database are

processes
databases
import
export

Obviously, I’m new to this and completely lost. When I try to import, it asks for the text file, which seems incorrect.

Please help

I am about to have GoDaddy do the install for me but would like the current (ugly) version of the site to remain in place until the new WP version is complete, is this possible maybe by simply renaming a file?

Hi all.

My host is on Godady. and has ALLOT of free space.

I thought about buying another domain, and using it for another website, but then discoverd:
“If I want another web site – I must purchese another webhost” (unless I put my site under the original domain)

Is there a way to bypass that ?
(meaning – to put two distinct domains, on a single GoDady webhost, without using masking or forwording)
