I have recently taken over access as an admin to my backend wordpress site and want to set up google tags on my site using wordpress. I am currently facing issues as there seems to be some old /existing configurations in place and i am having difficulties verifying these configurations.
Currently, on my wordpress site kit, i have linked google analytics and google tag manager to my google account. (screenshots below)
When i went to tag manager, there seem to already be an existing google tag that is linked to my account with an existing id (G- / GT- ) header (as seen in the screenshot below)
I have then made a new container as instructed by reading guides online and linked my sitekit to this new container i have created (screenshots below)
My question is, what is that existing google tag that is found under “all accounts”? Because this was set up by a previous user that is no longer here. A follow up question is how do i install the tag and properly link it to my account with site kit? the code below is what i would like to add with the tag.
I have tried using the debug feature and it says that there is currently no google tag found on my page

- I have followed your instructions and implemented the Custom Consent Mode Script as well as Google Tag Manager. I also have the wordpress plugin active, so I did not integrate the code.
However, I have now noticed that everything only works if I deactivate the WP plugin. Is it correct that the connection between your service and my site is already established by the Google Tag Manager, so I don’t need the plugin nor the code?
- Then I have a question about the different statuses:
do they have to be identical in the Tag Manager, as well as in the custom code? Or does the Tag Manager overwrite the custom code?
Why do I need the custom code at all if I have the Tag Manager active?
- If I activate “Allow Google tags to fire before consent” under the “Advanced Settings”. How does this affect the status? Does it override the tag manager?

P.s.: I also think your documentations are very confusing. You are always saying that there is option 1 OR option 2. But in both options you always need the custom code AND the tag manager? So why two options?
You also say, that I don’t have to add the cookieyes code if I have the WP Plugin active, but in my case it only works without code AND without Plugin.
I hope you can bring some clarity to the matter.

Disabling the AIOSEO plugin once did not help until multiple plugins were disabled at the same time and re-enabled—save for All In One SEO.
TL;DR: AIOSEO 4.3.5.1 throws errors pointing to jquery, g-tag-proxy.com, and CORS on WordPress 6.2 & WooCommerce 7.6
