]]>Nice work on this plugin!
I am using poedit to translate my site. Although I have translated to greek language and uploaded the .po and .mo files (https://prntscr.com/ljhnaq), it is not working. Also, how can I translate the mail template?
kind regards, Chrysovalantis
]]>Now with Yoast, there is either the option to have a %%page%% variable with context (“page [no] of [total]”) or %%pagenumber%% which just prints the number (i.e. “2”, NOT “page 2”), which is somewhat confusing. ANYWAY, the thing is that Yoast doesn’t make use of the wordpress translation file now (at least for %%page%%), so it’s in english. I located the phrase in line 903 of class-wpseo-replace-vars.php
file
$replacement = sprintf( $sep . ' ' . __( 'Page %1$d of %2$d', 'wordpress-seo' ), $nr, $max );
which I replaced with
$replacement = sprintf( $sep . ' ' . __( 'Σελ?δα %1$d απ? %2$d', 'wordpress-seo' ), $nr, $max );
Strangely now, instead of displaying ‘Σελ?δα 2 απ? 150’, it just displays ‘2/150’. Not to mention other things broken, like the blog page title using the homepage title template (?!?). WTF, all I did was replace two words.
So my question would be, how can we properly translate the %%page%% variable, and/or is there a way to just use the original wordpress variable for page which just displayed ‘page [no]’ when the current page was >1.
]]>I guess the popper way is a translation.
I can translate it and contribute it for other Greek users as well.
i translate and make the .po and .mo file, but what has to be done after so it reads those files, can you help me with this so we can have the plugin available also for the Greek friends.
TY,
Jason
I have translated the theme in greek using poedit.
I have uploaded the el_GR.po file at themes/virtue/languages and added el_GR at wp-config file wplang command.
The translated strings (greek) are shown at the backend (Appearance>theme options) but at the frontend the translation strings remain in english (for example “recent posts” remain “recent posts”, “posted in” remains “posted in” etc). Any idea of what might be causing this problem?
I have also added the el_GR.po file in wp-content/languages otherwise the translation was not showing either at the backend.
Thank you!
]]>I provide some necessary info:
1. I have set WPLANG to el_GR in the wp-config.php
2. In my file manager, I renamed the plugin’s “wp-contact-form-7.php” to “contact-form-7.php” , otherwise I got an error in CodeStyling Localization relating to the plugin’s textdomain and couldn’t translate at all.
3. I created the .po file (named “contact-form-7-el_GR.po”), rescaned in order to get all texts, did some translations and created the .mo file (named “contact-form-7-el_GR.mo”). Both files are located in wp-content> plugins> contact-form-7> languages
Normally, the translation should work, as with all other components I have translated so far. However, nothing happens in Contact Form 7.
One thing I notice, but I’m not sure it affects things is that in functions.php the Greek language in the list is referred to as:
‘el’ => __( ‘Greek’, ‘contact-form-7’ )
instead of
el_GR
Please advise.
