This is specifically obvious when I have a category that only has one product and that product is hidden. I have told the widget to hide empty categories, but it is treating this category as having products, so it is appearing in the category list with a (1) beside it. But then when you click on that category it says there are no products. (Which is to be expected).
Expected behaviour:
The product categories widget should not include hidden products in the count. A flow on from this will mean that the widget should not show categories that only have hidden products in it.
The new version of plugin doesn’t work properly when any category is hidden.
The entire website and articles are unavailable for anonymous users in that case.
You can turn on and set up UAM and UCE (Ultimate Category Excluder) plugins to understand exactly what happens when any category is hidden.
Is it possible to solve this issue?

It ALMOST is OK. When you visit the SHOP-page it is OK.
(See: https://nickytoy.wwwnlls1.a2hosted.com/shop/ . In the Listbox (Sidebar Widget) the Category Special is hidden.
HOWEVER, when you visit another Category (e.g. https://nickytoy.wwwnlls1.a2hosted.com/product-categorie/auto/ ) the category “Specials” is visible.
Can anyone advise me how to get this solved?
THANKS!
Bram
In my usecase the category should be hidden for normal visitors. Only the press – with knowledge of the URL – should open it. In this category should be some posts. The press must open these. Everything else were useless.
I have done this:
1. I created a new category ‘press’.
2. I posted an article in this category, so ACE noticed it.
3. I checked this category in ACE > Categories for every single case.
