Automatic update to 6.3 completely broke everything

A few of the sites I manage had automatic updates switched on and attempted to install 6.3 overnight. I received emails this morning saying an attempt was made but the site could not be updated.

The sites were not responding and it wasn’t even possible to log in to the dashboard, or access the actual site content. Everything was completely broken.

Here’s the error messages I saw:

PHP Fatal error: Cannot declare class WP_Metadata_Lazyloader, because the name is already in use in /var/www/html/wp-includes/class-wp-metadata-lazyloader.php on line 32
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function set() on null in /var/www/html/wp-includes/l10n.php:806\nStack trace:\n#0 /var/www/html/wp-includes/l10n.php(900): load_textdomain()\n#1 /var/www/html/wp-includes/class-wp-fatal-error-handler.php(47): load_default_textdomain()\n#2 [internal function]: WP_Fatal_Error_Handler->handle()\n#3 {main}\n thrown in /var/www/html/wp-includes/l10n.php on line 806

Luckily I managed to work out how to roll back to 6.2.2 from the command line which means I can now log in to my site (I’ve switched automatic updates off).

Has anybody else experienced this? Is this a known problem? I’m very hesitant to attempt an upgrade again until I know it’s not going to break everything.

Automatic upgrading failed; Manual upgrade loses site

When my automatic upgrade to Word Press 5.0.3 refused to work, I followed the instructions for a Manual upgrade, using Filezilla on my Mac. I get the WP-Admin page, but every page ob my site now shows the following error:

Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Block_Type_Registry’ not found in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/ox/fo/rd/oxfordtutorsinger.co.uk/public_html/wp-includes/script-loader.php on line 2421

Please help! My site is inaccessible. I have tried manually transferring the file mentioned in the error message, but am told that the file already exists.

Apache user:group is set to ubuntu:ubuntu – plugins and all other WP folders are set to 755 and owned by ubuntu:ubuntu as well.

So this doesn’t appear to be an issue with the server user:group or permissions.

Events Calendar Pro not running

I have the newest version of Events Calendar Pro installed on my site, however it does not appear on the site. I think this is because I need to have the original Events Calendar installed as well and it looks like that was removed when Events Pro was installed (before I took over site management).

Now, when I go to install The Events Calendar, it says Install Failed: Destination folder already exists. I don’t have the plugin already installed and I can’t find any record of it anywhere, but I’m also not very familiar with navigating code so it could be hidden somewhere.

I need my calendar back! Help?

I am getting this error when attempting to install Revolution Slider to Modish Theme 1.0.6:

“Destination folder already exists. /home1/aniellee/public_html/ellevalera/wp-content/plugins/revslider/

Plugin install failed.”

I’m a laymen so thank you for explaining how I should trouble shoot in the simplest terms! Thanks!

Visual recipe index not on my dashboard

I may have accidentally deleted files that were needed by Visual Recipe Index, but it is no longer listed on my Dashboard.
I tried to install it, but it failed with this message:
Destination folder already exists. /home1/delishab/public_html/wp-content/plugins/visual-recipe-index/

Plugin install failed.

I tried copying and pasting an existing index, but that didn’t work either.
PLEASE HELP!!

I installed Nextgen Gallery few week ago after installed new site, yesterday No image on my site or plugin was available, I tried to reinstalled again but I received “Plugin install failed””Destination folder already exists”
I did backup then upgrade the WP 4.3, but still have a problem, please help me to fix or find the hide installed plugin and activate again.
