Using instant wordpress, front page 404 error

Hi. I’m trying to set up a local host to edit my theme before it goes live. I’m using instant WordPress and from the dashboard when I try to go to the front page or the WordPress admin page, it doesn’t connect. the front page just gives the usual error you get when not connected to the internet and the admin page gives me a login page without any CSS. when I enter the username and password and “admin” and “password”, it just says couldn’t connect. the same goes for any link I click on the page such as “forgot my password” and “submit” without entering any username and password. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there

I am a wordpress noob so please forgive me if I am asking a silly question, I am not sure where I am going wrong…
I am trying to install your YITH Essential Kit for WooCommerce #1 1.1.20 plugin but it hangs for a while and then tries to unpack but fails every time I try, the message I get is: Could not create directory. yith-essential-kit-for-woocommerce-1/modules/yith-woocommerce-authorizenet-payment-gateway/assets/images/icons/credit-cards
It then only gives me the option to go back to the plugins page.

I am not sure if it will have an effect but I am using Instant WordPress to build my site currently.
The theme I am running is Retaler.

Would you be able to tell me why I am unable to proceed, is it something I am doing wrong? Or is it because I am not using a live server? From what I gather it is just the credit card icon the plugin is struggling with?

Instant WordPress database

I’m trying to upload my Instant WordPress database to a new installation on another computer. I exported the mysql file but how do I create a new database for importing that file? The only database in the new installation is information_schema and under “create database” in myphpadmin it says, “no privileges.

I’m running a private organisational intranet and until the week before last all was working perfectly. I have Gravity Forms and Gravity Flow installed, as well as BuddyPress. The issue I’m having is that when BuddyPress is active, the page with the Gravity Flow Workflow Status shortcode stops working: the page only shows the header bar of the status table, and the menu and primary header do not display on that one page at all.

I’ve changed the theme from a child theme of Optimizer to Divi which I thought may resolve the issue, but it has not. I have recreated the site on InstantWP, included all plugins currently installed on the live site and set them to the same status (active/inactive), and have done the same with the theme (all other themes have been deleted on the live site as well as on InstantWP). The recreated site is working perfectly on InstantWP.

It isn’t an option to leave BuddyPress deactivated as the users are heavily involved in the Groups element; I haven’t yet found an alternative that facilitates groups and/or lets me export/import from BuddyPress to a new plugin so they don’t lose their data.

Suggestions?

I’m thinking of using instant wordpress because I have problems downloading and installing wordpress to my computer. Is the functionality of instant wordpress the same as wordpress? Is it easy to upload website built with instant wordpress to web hosting ?

Copy site to local installation on Instant WordPress

Trying to copy my site down to try playing with it a little without risking the ‘real’ site, and using Instant WordPress to run on my desktop pc. Not entirely sure where to put the downloaded files since obviously my local installation is ‘virtual’ and doesn’t have folders to put it in, but followed the advice from a previous question (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/duplicator-with-instant-wordpress?replies=5) and put the installer and the package in the /iwpserver/htdocs/wordpress folder after deleting everything that was currently in there.
The question also said I’d have to edit the config.ini, so I’ve done that, but now stuck – I just can’t get the installer to run in local environment, as installer.php simply opens in my editor instead. Even if I force it to open in IE, I get a IE popup box asking if I want to open or save the file, and clicking Open opens it in my editor again.
I’m gonna feel so stoopid, but how do I actually open installer.php to run it rather than edit?

Login fails following update

I am running Instant WordPress from my C: drive.

I regularly copy the entire instantWordPress directory to another location as a backup. I decided recently to update to the current WordPress which I did manually following the instructions on the WordPress site. I then had to update the database which was done automatically.

Once completed I was unable to login to my site. I have also found that I am unable to login to the copies kept elsewhere. Of course I can log in using admin and password but that only reaches the dummy site supplied with the release. I am unable to login to my own content.

Can Anyone help me to login please.

Hi I am a total newby to wordpress , so I guess I will posting regularly whilst I get started . I have installed instant wordpress and have chosen the theme twenty thirteen . I do not wish to create a blog site and have worked out how to switch that off , but wish to change some of the pages to full width , so that text and images can be added . Can I simply adjust the padding or do I need to install a page layout of some sort.
Can I have responses in “dummies ” instructions please and any steps I should take. Thanks in advance

Unable to Login InstantWP – 500 Internal Server Error

I am using InstantWP 4.2. My WordPress version is $wp_version = ‘3.8.4’. I haven’t made my site live. My active theme is Twenty-Fourteen and using as child theme. I haven’t downloaded any plugins in a good while. All of a sudden, I cannot reach the login page https://127.0.0.1:4001/wordpress/wp-login.php and gives me a 500 Error.

From reading a multiple articles, I have renamed my plugin folder to “plugin.deactivate”. Also renamed both parent and child active themes (Twenty-Fourteen). Also renamed “.htaccess”. None of above worked.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!
