GTIN, UPC, EAN, or ISBN Import / Export

Ok I’m not sure what version it appeared in, but WooCommerce now has a ‘GTIN, UPC, EAN, or ISBN’ field, which was sorely missed, as a lot of modern shops require it, such as Google shopping. I’ve tested it, and it saves the info, however I cannot for the life of me work out where it is saved, and how I could use it:

I have other plugins for WooCommerce which already have added this as Meta: fields inside the product, which at present is how I read / write manufacturers EAN numbers into products, via bulk updates, and write it to the site, via functions, but exporting the csv, the new field just doesn’t show up?

Is this an oversight, bug, or intentional? Surely it should be in the standard export, and not in the custom meta fields, but currently it’s nowhere I can see, without diving into mysql, which is a bit above my head!

I don’t have enough words to say how good this plugin is.

I have no particular knowledge of coding, but I was looking for a plugin to create a sort of collection of books: a bibliography and, at the same time, a library.

I’m not interested in selling and things like that. Additionally, I needed to be able to automatically import a book’s details via its ISBN. Well, even though this beautiful plugin was probably not created for this, it works perfectly for my needs. There really must be a lot of work behind it.

It takes a bit of patience to understand certain mechanisms (I’m not an expert in coding) and the documentation is minimal (but I don’t reproach the author of the plugin who is always present on the support forum to resolve any doubts). The plugin can probably still improve, but the project is mature and very useful for those who want to deal with books and collections.

My suggestion, for what it’s worth, is to release more general documentation on the use of shortcodes and make more customization of rendering possible (although I suspect that I’m probably the one who doesn’t have much expertise with CSS and such things).

Ignoring books with no cover image

I have the “Library Bookshelves” plugin working and have populated a test bookshelf by pasting in a list of recently-acquired ISBNs obtained from our Koha system. I am using openlibrary.org as by cover image server. Over half of the ISBNs don’t deliver a cover image which results in a lot of “white spaces” in the slider. Is there a way to have it simply skip books for which no cover image is available?

Currently, we are using a custom list to populate our bookshelves. We switched because many of our items have ONLY an ISBN-13 number, but the shelves look for items on Amazon (our image source) under ISBN-10. If we don’t have an ISBN-10 number in the record, or the item doesn’t have one listed, it will not work.
Is there an update planned to address this, or some way to change settings to use ISBN-13? Curating the lists is fine, but, our patrons like the more dynamic lists we get by having it run a report.

ISBN field & migrating ISBN data from a deprecated plug-in

When the ecom bookstore was built there was no intrinsic ISBN field and a plug-in> “Product GTIN (EAN, UPC, ISBN) for WooCommerce” was used.
It has been deprecated.

As best as I can tell there is a new field for ISBN in Product entry on the Inventory tab. I don’t know when this appeared as I don’t do product entry.
Previously, as best as I remember from 2019’s set-up, it was entered as an Attribute. I don’t believe the plugin put that field in the Product entry. The support and documentation for the plug-in is lacking now that it is abandoned.

Is WooCommerce handling ISBN as a dedicated field now? Do I have to migrate my Attribute data into the new field before uninstalling the old plug-in? How best to migrate this data to a usable field?

Products in Merchant center rejected due to GTIN

Google merchant centre has disapproved all products due to missing GTIN. We have GTIN mentioned in Product attributes under the additional information section.

In the dropdown selection under GTIN, in the plugin dashboard, I had selected the product attribute. This does not work as it fetches entire attributes.

How to overcome this?`

ISBN cover fetch

I would like to use the Recencio Review plugin for a book grid. However, with the extension “Fetch book cover” enabled the “Fetch”-button next to the ISBN field (in the sidebar) does not appear at all. Has anyone stumbled over the same issue and found a way to figure it out?

Additional selectable attribute values needed from Yoast SEO for GTIN, MPN, ISBN

I want to add the GTIN to my product feed.
Now I see that CTX has created additional fields for every product to add these.
But also Yoast SEO adds these fields, which I am using already for GTIN and MPN for the product scheme.
Unfortunately these values cannot be selected from the CTX plugin for attributes like GTIN, MPN etc.
The values Yoast adds are the following:
GTIN8
GTIN12/UPC
GTIN13/EAN
GTIN14/ITF-14
ISBN
MPN

Could you please add the correct attributes for these to the plugin and make the Yoast values selectable?

I get this error in my merchant center:
Limited performance due to missing ISBN or GTIN

My product feed plugin settings are:
attribute: GTIN
value: SKU

I have only downloadable products on my site.
