Strato Kunden / German Hoster Strato Issues Upload or Processing time

Planning to buy the Premium Version!

Situation: Running quite a few large size wordpress pages on german hoster Strato, so I hope to get info and/ or feedback from Updraft and probably german users as well!

I have large databases from some pages that even importing an export I made with phpMyAdmin can’t be imported via phpMyAdmin either due to time out or size restrictions by Strato!
I read in the Updraft Documentation that one issue with german hoster Strato can be solved by changing to another Zip comprimation. But there’s also an issue with Strato and other ‘popular’ hosting companies that they don’t allow larger files / or time consuming imports to be processed. ;(

My questions:
1. Can Updraft Premium do backups AND IMPORTS/ RESTORING BACKUPs of WordPress databases the size of 500MB or even 1.5GB? I plan to save the backup on Stratos own sftp, saving won’t be a problem but will importing a large database work with the possible size restrictions of Strato?
2. If so, will the backup be chopped into parts? Will Updraft Premium do that for me or is there a documentation I can use?
3. Will Updraft Premium work around the limits of the hoster like DumpSQL used to?

Would LOVE to hear from Strato users as well how they manage their large sitze backups!

41,000 Scheduled Actions

I’m trying to sort out some fatal errors on my website. My ISP person has suggested it could be caused because the database is being loaded into memory and that I should look at the size of my database. It’s is 302mb (which apparently is large?) and over a quarter of it seems to be in these Scheduled actions so I’m looking into that as a first step.
I have over 41,000 Scheduled actions that go back over 3 years.
These are under the hooks (whatever they are) of
wde_delivery_status, wde_hardtofind_push, wde_update_check, wde_postmanifest_updates
and action_scheduler/migration_hook.
1. Is 41,000 right for a small website that sells maybe 100 units a month?
2. Why are completed ones from 2 years ago still there?
3. Can I delete these?

Hundreds of posts slowing down site?

I have recently taken on an existing site for a client. It’s a news website so it has hundreds and hundreds of posts with images. There is pagination for categories etc. The database is so big that I haven’t managed to get it running locally yet.

One thing they have mentioned is that the more articles they post, the slower the site gets. It’s gradually getting slower and the speed rating is not good. They can’t really remove the old posts as the older posts are still getting lots of hits.

Is this possible for the number of posts to slow down the site speed?

Note: It’s currently running on the Newspaper theme. The client is going through the process of manually optimizing images and wants to avoid an image optimizer plugin.

When I run speed test I’m told there are 17 external sripts which I think could be the problem instead?

I have imported database to my new server. when I hit import it went to upto %33 after a few retries and now it won’t pass this percentage.

I get the error: “This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase ‘Connection Timeout’.”

I have set max_execution_time, max_input_time, max_input_vars to 1000 and memory_limit to -1 and it’s still not working.

We needed a tool that would allow us to gather information about live music events in our region and publish them online. The information in the database would then be exported to a CSV file and manipulated into our monthly printed magazine – oh, and we needed the facility to allow registered users to add their own events.

To give you an idea of scale, we have at any one time over 4,000 live events spread across a potential 1,500 venues, many small clubs and pubs.

Bug while migrating a large website from Yoast

Hello,
I’m currently working on migrating a website from Yoast to Seopress. This website is part of a site network and it has a large number of pages (more that 30000) that are stored as custom post types and that has custom meta registered for each.
When I click on “migrate now” in seopress tools, it’s almost instant so I checked what it did : the articles are ok, but pages and custom post types are not migrated correctly. The google preview send the good title and description but all fields (“title”,”meta description” and “meta keyword”) are empty ! And if I check for the page code that is in frontend, the meta are empty as well so it get the content instead of meta description. It’s frustrating because it seems to work, but it’s not :'(
Is there some limitation that generate this error ? What is the migration doing in database ? Is there something that I could do directly in sql maybe to fix this ? I’m working on a pre-production server so we could test some things if needed.

plugin hangs for site with large number of posts

we have a site with a large number of posts (nearly 200,000) which seems to cause this plugin to hang

is it possible to incorporate some kind of batching mechanism into your plugin so that it can handle large sites better? i.e. where it could be configured to process a certain amount of posts at a time .. or something like that?
