Im rebuilding a site in WordPress which was originally built on a custom cms.

Part of this site includes an area for users to Register, This Registration needs to be accepted and approved by an admin.

Once the Registration has been accepted the users has access to thier profile which they can edit. This profile needs to have fields/areas which can be created/modified by admins. EG: Name, Job, Categories.

These pages will be visable to people browsing the site as the pages are Community/list of writers which people viewing the site can search for.

Is this possible using wordpress or a plugin for wordpress? or do i need to look at a different cms ?

then i stumbled across this members plugin. Have anyone got any experience with it?

what is your opinion on the safety of using it? is it more or less safe then the passwordprotected folder on the server?

I’m in the process of creating a new ‘directory’ style site for small community of web designers.

The idea is that designers will be able to create their own one-page profile which will essentially include their contact details, a mugshot, and a couple of samples of work… no social networking as such, this is purely a self-promotional tool.

I’ll effectively be managing the site, but I’d like to make this ‘create your own profile’ feature as self-automated as possible. Is there a way of doing this with WordPress? I’ve heard of ‘aMember Pro’, but I’m not sure if it’s ‘right’ for this concept?

I’d be interested in hearing whether there are any existing plugins or solutions that can handle this.

I am a HTML/JS developer with some PHP skills.
I just want to know how to develop a plugin for multi-authors blogging. As we know in the 2.5.1, there is a role “author” which makes a blog more accessible by contributors, however, in order to reward the authors, i think there’d better be some plugin that can allow them to customized some of their own profile pages etc. As well as some management stuff involved.

I really hope someone can give me some tips, just urls are great, I will learn it myself :0
