]]>When I was uploading to the latest version, I received the following message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_update_data() in /home/content/09/6500309/html/theknittinggoddess/wp-admin/menu.php on line 34
I have googled to find a fix and found this:
1 backup all files and the dbase (just to be safe)
2 Log in with FTP: rename the plugin folder to plugin-old and delete .maintenance file
3 download new 3.3 and unzip it.
4 Log in with FTP: upload all wp 3.3 files, overwrite all files
5 log in with wp-admin
Wp will tell you it needs to update the dbase. press ok
Wp will give you access to the dashboard.
Most likely your theme will look like …. and wp will tell you it is broken. An ugly twenty eleven theme can be running now.

6Reactivate your theme.
I don’t understand the instructions. The first thing it says to do is to run a backup but I am not able to access anything on my site. Then I don’t know how to log in with FTP. I do not know what that means.

]]>Yesterday i loged in on my website “myride.netii.net” and it showed me that i had to update my wordpress to 3.3 and i had to choose if i wanted to download it and update it manualy or update it automatically without downloading anything. so i chose the automatic thing. I pressed on automatic update. So it started updating and than it just stuck. i was waiting for a loooong time but nothing happened. So i just closed the webbrowser and went to sleep. Today i woke up went to my website and tried to log it but i got this error instead: ” Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_update() in /home/a6392481/public_html/wp-admin/menu.php on line 34 “. How do i fix it please help me. It happened to me before that it stuck and i closed the webbrower but it was all alright in few minutes. I guess it updated or something. and i never got any errors exept for this time. I went on my wordpress folder and edited the file in which the error is at but i dont know wat to do with it. Please help me. What should i write there?

]]>Based on what I saw other people recommending, I’ve already downloaded a fresh copy of 3.3 to my computer, found the file in question /wp-admin/menu.php and replaced it in my ftp manager through godaddy. This did nothing. Just for kicks I tried again. Nothing. For some extra special fun I removed the file completely to see if the error message would change. It did, no surprise. added it back and I got the same error as before.
So I pulled up menu.php in dreamweaver and here is the line in question…
$update_data = wp_get_update_data();
This is where my know-how ends and my instincts say I should stop and ask for directions before I break something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
