Unwanted links to my website on comments

Someone has generated comments on 1000s of wordpress sites with a link to my website, I believe this has only been done in order to get my site a penalty. The majority of the links are nofollow.

I am spending a lot of time trying to remove links from these sites as I dont want google to think I am trying to gain ranking positions from artificial link building. On the worst day I had 13,000 links built to my site on multiple wordpress websites.

Has anyone else experienced this and know of a way to stop it happening?

The plugin shows “Powered by OneAll” link below the social network icons.

WordPress plugin guidelines do not allow such links to be on by default.

What’s worse, there’s no Admin UI to remove the link which is gravely against WordPress provisions.

Hostgator WP sites hacked, links added to wp-blog-header.php

I have several sites hosted with Hostmonster. Link spam is added to all of my sites’ wp-blog-header.php files and displays after the closing HTML tag on all of the site’s web pages. Here is a sample: https://empoweryou.ca. As soon as I remove it it reappears.

And I keep getting an admin account added under the name doctor9. I delete it and it reappears.

I have asked Hostmonster support for help and they refer me back to WordPress.

I am using the latest version of WordPress and all plugins are regularly updated to the latest versions.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Link Spam in embedded RSS

Hi, can someone help?

I have spent months building a site with wordpress, and have a high ranking on Google. Recently the outgoing RSS feed from my site has been not working, running it through a feed validation site I get the resulting error line

This feed does not validate

Line 176, column 15:XML parsing error:

…with a whole load of link spam showing up immediately after this highlighted line…

When I update wordpress the problem goes away and my RSS feed works, but only to return around 2 days later with the same problem…spam in my RSS feed and it not working. I installed the “bad behaviour” plugin immediately after updating but the problem comes back.

What can I do, short of wiping my wordpress installation and starting again? I want to act fast as I don’t want my Google rankings effected.

I have backups of exported XML files from my wordpress site.

During the installation process the plugin stealthily places a link to their website into your blogroll. No mention of that anywhere. It’s just being done behind your back. Not a behavior that I expect, nor accept.
Autotagger is gone form my WP installation.
